If he has another good year he is as good as gone, probably is anyways. I personally wouldn't necessarily want to see him go, but i would not invest the kind of money he wants at the safety position, unless its for an Ed Reed in his prime. especially when we will have other more important(imo) positions to sign in the near future.

Baalke and team know what they are doing. If he was worth what he wants he would have been paid already.

Let's say, last season was a "career year" and he drops off a little, and has no suitors...we get him back for less! 4 years 34.3 mil!

If he doesnt agree to the contract offered, he's going to get franchised again.

Who knows what the truth is, but from the rumors we read the 49ers have offered 6-7mil a year on a 4 or 5 year contract. I dont see any reason why we should overpay just because the Chargers and NY did. I really dont see the logic in him not accepting a deal that puts him below Weddle and Rolle, and around/above what Griffin and Branch got.

pay him his 7-8mil and call it good. or see what we have from our other players, let another team overpay him and collect our extra draft picks. i actually can't think of a time when another team did this tho(signing another team's franchise player and giving up picks to do it).

We have 1 more franchise tag available on him if we want to so if they want to keep him 1 more year they can

Goldson has always had a high opinion of himself. I like him as a player but have had lots of good safeties over the years (Parrish, Brooks, McDonald, not to mention Fuller, Hicks, Williamson, Lott, Fuller, Schulters, Hanks), among others. We know good safety play when we see it.

The Hawk had a good year and made the Pro Bowl and he is worth a long term deal . . . at the right price.

Ed Reed he aint.

Since we have another tag the real question is what if he has two more pro bowl seasons? At some point you just have to pay the man if he has that kind of consistency. Strong d-line or not.

Then we can only hope that with the way the team has tried to strong-arm him into a cheaper long term contract, he's going to just take the high road. Especially if we have a few more long runs at the superbowl and his FA stock is at an all time high. Someone will overpay him.

This. He should have taken the deal they gave him last off-season.

The 49ers hold the cards and Goldson plays a year and prays he stays healthy. Where will his agent be if he goes down? He played this game of free agency last year and came up spades. Even if his numbers are a few million short it's better than coming up with a goose egg.
