" Justin Smith, DT, San Francisco 49ers

I think the cat might finally be out of the bag: Justin Smith is one bad dude! It's hard for a 5-technique in a three-man front to dominate a football game, but Smith does just that on a weekly basis. He has rare strength, power and balance to hold the point of attack against the run. Simply put, he's immovable. He also has the quickness and awareness to shed blockers, locate the football and make the tackle. As a pass rusher, he makes it close to impossible for the offensive line to establish a clean pocket. He constantly gets push and offers a wide variety of hand moves to create pressure. The term walk-off usually applies to baseball players, but Justin made it relevant in the NFL last season. He made key plays to clinch wins over the Eagles, Lions and Giants (in their regular season matchup)."

in the 4th qtr against the saints, when he Bullrushed Jermon Bushrod and pulled Brees to the ground, with Bushrod helplessly trying with all his might to fight him off , it showed the whole world what kind of monster he is ..Glad he wears a 49ers uniform
The guy was 1st team All Pro AND 2nd Team All Pro. Enough said... he is the best defensive player in the league.

How about 4thQ vs Eagles and Giants in regular season. He made game winning plays. In NFC CG, he had a huge sack on Eli on a big 3rd down in OT. We don't need to mention what happened next.

How he hustled in that game vs the Eagles to force that Maclin fumble showed just how great and how hard the guy keeps working every down.
He is truly a Beast among Beasts

He got that country boy strength.
Dude's just plain nasty.

Thank you Cincy!

When you can get push with a bull rush on any given play and you are fundamentally sound in all other aspects of your position then you are going to be close to unstoppable.

Actually, he was 1st Team and 1st Team (DE and DT)
I wonder how often the Bengals GM wakes up and kicks himself for letting J.Smith go?

No, he was 2nd team DE
McCloughan made a smart move brining him to this team.

I remember when it happened I was doubting how Justin Smith would make an impact as a 3-4 DE. Pleasantly surprised would be mildly putting it.

I think my exact words at the time was "Sure he is a good player, but he is only a 4-3 player...."

Justin Smith gets All-Pro votes at two positions Posted by Mike Florio on January 7, 2012, 5:28 AM EDT

Getty ImagesThe Associated Press announced its All-Pro team on Friday. For the first time ever, a player made it onto the first team and the second team at two different positions. 49ers defensive end Justin Smith received only nine votes at his true position of defensive end. He also picked up 35 votes at the position he doesn't play: defensive tackle. And so Smith, along with Ravens defensive tackle Haloti Ngata, is a first-team All-Pro defensive tackle. And Smith is a second-team All-Pro at the position he plays, defensive end. The confusion arises from the fact that Smith is a defensive end in a 3-4 defense, which has caused plenty of voters — at least 35 of them — to think that he's an interior defensive lineman. Peter King of Sports Illustrated, who has one of the 50 AP votes, insists that Smith is a defensive end, not a defensive tackle. This makes the fact that Smith made it to the first team at a position he actually doesn't play even more amazing, and impressive. And with his name appearing as a first-teamer on 44 of 50 ballots, it'll be interesting to see how many votes Smith gets for defensive player of the year, an award that doesn't hinge on getting his position right.
