LaMichael James was a Niner (CUT!)

Plus he wont know their playbook and barring an injury he will still be in the same place he is now. This is HS drama and we dont need it in our locker room, good riddance!!!!!

Fitting that he asked for his release after getting just 2 carries...but for ZERO yards. Produce if you want to get more.

He was super fast in college, but in the NFL his speed didnt impress defenders. Just an undersized RB who cant beat defenders to the edge.

Maybe after hes buried on a bad teams depth chart he will realize hes no good.

My least favorite Niner since Brandon Jacobs.

I wish him well, I was a big fan of his at Oregon. It'll be interesting to see if his career takes off somewhere else, or if he just doesn't have what it takes to make in the NFL.

Honestly, I was expecting James to be a late 3rd early 4th pick, and was surprised but pleased to see the 49ers take him (just because I'm a fan). He's got speed, but he's a bit of a straight line runner without NFL power. At Oregon he just out-ran the competition with open lanes, but you rarely get those open lanes in the NFL, you usuallly have to earn yards with contact like Gore and Hyde. So I don't know who our 3rd RB is now? Hunter and Lattimore are hurt (and I don't have much hope in Hunter ever returning to form).

Well, if he asked to be released, then good riddance. I thought he could have been utilized better, but his skillset didn't seem to match the skillset of the Oline. So him as a RB wasn't going to work (between the tackles). Perhaps he could have been a pass catching RB, but that's not how the 49ers use their RBs. 49ers tried an option pitch to LMJ versus DAL and that failed because Boldin wasn't able to sustain his block. Even if had worked, a QB option pitch isn't my idea of a good NFL play.

It's all up to Looney to salvage the 2012 class.
Wish him the best and wont have another thought about him. Its such non existent news that hardly any sports outlet has even reported it. Constant complaining does no favors for him either. We lost out on Winston, but thats how the NFL works. Heck I was dying for us to sign undrafted free agent Isaiah Crowell, he will be the Browns RB of the future. Was a 5 star recruit before trouble. Always guys coming an going. Cant get it right 100% of the time.

LaMichael needs to look in the mirror though. Its always someone elses fault with him. Its like my dad used to say. Its never your fault, but you always seem to be there. Good Luck elsewhere

But what a waste of a 2nd round pick.

A few vets out there: Alfonso Smith, Tashard Choice, Michael Bush, Ryan Williams, Daryl Richardson, James Wilder. We only need somebody to b the 3rd string guy until Lattimore can be activated after week 6.

I would be interested in Michael Bush to fit the power back mold. Easier, though, would be to just bring back Alfonso Smith IMO.

Bush used to be good when he played for the Raiders. How old is he?
Dont let the door hit yah where the good lord split yah.
It doesn't take Sherlock Holmes to figure out who the source was regarding the 49ers locker room being disgruntled.........
Maybe Glenn Winston wasn't worth it but I would have rather kept him over LMJ. Hope LMJ catches on in BAL or wherever but he didn't do much for us as a second rounder sadly

LaMichael James took advantage of the open-door policy 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh has instituted for any players who want to air their dissatisfaction.

"Yes," Harbaugh said. "We had conversations."

The 49ers granted James' request to be released on Monday, James' agent, Jeff Sperbeck announced via Twitter. Harbaugh confirmed the team released James and will sign another player to take his spot on the 53-man roster.

"Wish LaMichael well in his career," Harbaugh said. "Hope for a long and healthy career for LaMichael James. And appreciate his contributions to the 49ers and continue to wish him well."

Great! That's worth 3-7 points to us.

100% sure he needs to clear waivers first. some other team will nab him before the Cawks have a chance.

Ravens are suddenly in need of RB talent. I'm sure Jim tipped his bro on this before it happened...
LMJ is a favor to the Ravens for Anquan Boldin. Pretty even trade when you think about it.
