this. I know dallas is more "popular" but giants/niners opening the season would have been much better.

If that was a road game for SF that DEFINITELY would have been the season opener. But the SB winner always gets homefield in the first game (even though that SB shoulda been our beloved Niners).
I know that opening up against an NFC West opponent is protocol but that was during our years in the basement. I think the Niners are showcased now that they've returned to glory.

doubt the NFL will give the Saints a prime-time home game in week 1, and I'm assuming we're going to be in one of the prime-time games in week 1, so it probably won't be the Saints, though that would be awesome.
Personally I'm hoping we open against the Pats, but it will probably be the Cardinals.
