hes a definite upgrade to what we've been starting on the other side of boldin. atleast mario can catch and get open. i think he'll be a factor right away. we have two good receivers outside, VD at TE, Gore and Bruce on any given play. we have some weapons and the fact that they actually have to cover both receivers now is a huge plus. opens up a lot of extra space

i cant wait to get him back. I wish patton would be the 4th and kyle williams just somehow go away.
But I'll put down some money to anyone on here that he will have a return for a touchdown either in the playoffs or a very important regular season game.

I wish they would use LaMichael james more as a pass catcher on screens and an occasional Fly Sweep, that play is worth an easy 10 to 15 yard pop twice a game with the chance to pop a really big one every couple games.
Does anyone know when Crabtree is scheduled to return? End of October?
Because James isn't a pass catcher and he's a terrible pass blocker. He averaged 17 receptions a season at Oregon and rarely pass blocked.
Stop trying to make James into Sproles. They are completely different players.
Not to derail the Rio thread but I get the allure here. James clearly operates much better in space...he is a speed and ellusiveness kind of runner, hense the natural Sproles comarisons and the talk of returning kicks. The natural way to get a guy out in space at this level is the bubble screen and swing pass, other options are an old fashioned sweep or a reverse which is easier to sell if we line him up wide once in a while. He is clearly a home run hitter if we can get him to the edge, but struggles against early contact. Maybe he isnt a natural pass catcher but if he could be taught, his skill set becomes a great deal more useful in our offensive system. He really is a square peg in a round hole here when running our normal offense. If we want to make use of his talents we are going to have to design a special sub-package.

No one. We have a one week exemption for Aldon.
Then it will be someone like Bethel Johnson.
