Yeah, nobody is really that scared of Crabtree. You would have to be stupid to double Crabtree and not Davis.

people say that, But i dont see it. Williams is more versitile than Crabtree, and regardless of the Fans take, the staff seems to like him.
how is he more versatile? He can't run a reverse, hang onto the ball, get out of the way of the ball. He had 20 catches this season nothing special there.
20 catches with limited playing time is quite good actually and he has great WR hands just not made to return kicks and punts... not his problem he made a mistake, no one talks about the defensive back that slipped on the last play of the cowboys game anymore... so just because there is a bigger stage doesn't mean you should put all the blame on him and never forget those plays (1 3rd down conversion the entire game people!!!!)
What was the score when he decided to David Beckham the ball? 14-10 Niners? thought so
that's a low blow to david beckham... and dude the kid made a mistake if anything he will rebound from it and become insanely good next year
Not just one mistake but 3....one killed a drive, the others killed a season
And Crabtree didnt have a catch.
Actually he did have A catch. He was also blanketed by defenders all night because we only had one other pass catching threat who the defense decided not to pay as much attention to. Morgan would not have been double covered on any play.

Yet VD had two touchdowns, and
crabtree was not blanketed, unless you count getting shut down 1vs1 by the third CB.
He was double covered a lot.
VD had two TD's because they left him open a lot since they were doubling up on Crabtree.
You are gonna honestly sit there and say the reason VD had 4 TD's in the post season was because crabtree was drawing the double? Really?
Of course thats not the only reason. Thats one of the reasons he was always so open though.
We were obviously not watching the same thing then, because the idea that VD's production was in any way effected by what Crabtree did is ludicrous. Crabtree had no bearing on VD's production what so ever.

great signing here in part because its only a 2 year deal. Once again our FO is doing a great job by going after low risk high reward type contracts/players.

Has the $$ been reported for the contact?
I know it's 2 year but what's the deal like?

good signing. interested to see the $. now re-sign Ginn, draft a WR, and lets never again have the receiver problems we've had for ten years.

Signing Manningham is fine/okay in my book depending on the grand total of his contract. No better than Crabtree
It's difficult comparing Manningham's stats to Crabtree because although Mario has played in 50 games, he's only started 28. Crabtree on the other hand is 42 games & 40 starts
Anyway here is how it breaks down
Mario: 160 catches, 2315 yards, 18 TD's, 46.3 Yards/Game
Crabtree:175 catches, 2240 yards, 12 TD's, 53.3 Yards/Game
Considering Manningham played in an offense that threw the ball 55+ times a game, Crabtree's stats are more impressive

also had nicks to take away attention
i agree not a flashy signing but a solid player

Manningham was also the 3rd option behind two VERY good receivers.
And I think he was close to 1000 yards one of those seasons.
He always had talent and potential coming out of college. He has big play ability and is clutch. Just what we needed.

Agreed. Trying to keep a level head about it without getting too excited before we have our QB position squared away with. I def take Mario for 2 seasons over Moss & given our glaring hole at the position maybe we should expect more. If you believe Mario being handed a #2 spot will add more consistency & thus turning him into a 70 receptions a season guy, then the deal is a steal & we might be wishing there was a 3rd season attached to this contract, down the line.
If Peyton comes, then Mario is at-least a Pierre Garcon.

Who says we don't have a number 1? Watch Crabtree do 1200 yards next year.
