Passing To Our Fullback More Will Help The Offense

Agree. He caught a beautiful over the shoulder (kind of) catch for a long TD earlier in the season. For an All-Pro Collegiate LB'er, this dude is a great FB.

I'm very excited about the 49ers turnaround this season. One thing that I think would help our offense going forward is to incorporate Bruce Miller into our passing game more frequently. He has been targeted only 15 times this season, but has 11 receptions. That's a 73% completion rate. The only player on the team with a higher completion rate is Josh Morgan, who is on IR. I don't think Miller gets much attention when he comes out of the backfield, and throwing to him on 3rd and short, or in the red zone might improve our efficiency. If you go back to those dynasty years of the 49ers, Walsh and Seifert used the fullback much more frequently in the passing game, and it really helped the offensive efficiency. During Tom Rathman's prime years with the 49ers (1987-93), he averaged 52 receptions a year over that span. I think Harbagh has done an incredible job in his first year, and I hope he will find creative ways to spread the ball around this week, and hopefully in the Super Bowl. I think throwing to the fullback more may add a boost to the offense in getting yardage and first downs in critical situations.

definitely need to incorporate him more seeing as how our wrs have a hard time getting open. especially on play action. give him those oops slip sneak routes on pa.

I do believe he will be used more. Hopefully starting this weekend.
I definitely thought he was underutilized as a receiver out of the backfield. Good things seem to have happened whenever he has caught a pass. In terms of stats, the Giants have the better offense, but we have some pretty solid weapons on our offense as well.
I agree with you as BM was open on a number of occasions and Smith just simply doesn't see him or look for him. The one time they did throw to him out of the backfield he went for 12 or 13 yards and got the Defence off guard.

West Coast Offence. No-one suspects Bruise!
Oh yeah! It's going to be Vernon clear out with Miller running a circle route behind him and then Gore running a flat on that same side. LB's will have to decide which one to take and if Vernon is doubled, one of those two will be wide open.

Miller is a threat out of the backfield. We need to use him more.
