Is it a done deal that they are moving to Santa Clara? Any chance for SF officials to intervene?

Almost a done deal from what I hear they are supposed to start building by April this year. SF has pretty given up any effort to try to keep the team.

If we end up sharing with the Raiders you can bet it will be field turf so they can switch logo's and end zones quickly from week to week.
It will be a grass field. That has been widely reported. Logo switching is a non issue.
raiders more likely to play in los angeles vs. santa clara

Candlestick is a decrepit dump in the middle of a ghetto. Even if they stayed in SF, no way in hell should they try to save Candlestick.

This. I really want it to be a grass stadium with an open roof. The Cardinals stadium in Glendale has a retractable roof but its f**king worthless because they never open the damn thing.
"Here we are in Glendale, Arizona, its November, the weather outside is 72 degrees and the roof is f**kING CLOSED!"
Don't even let that retractable BS be an option.
Maybe its broken :D

the supposed $650 million proposal from a mystery architecture firm was the closest thing to keeping the 9ers in the heart of SF. That being said I highly doubt that it was ever a reality, or the firm is not experienced in the skills required to build stadiums, there are very few firms in the entire country let alone the world that build stadiums of this magnitude ($500 Million budget or higher). If the rumor had any truth to it the firm would have come forward and used its name and reputation to help push the bill through.
EDIT:
I don't want to scare people but look up the Rice Eccles Stadium at the University of Utah. Rice Eccles is a smaller and very similar look to the models and pictures I keep seeing. The main difference being the south area of the stadium is completely separate from the rest of the seats but the tall press box look is almost identical to that of the proposed SC stadium. It might just be the fact Rice Eccles is the only stadium I've been in but if the SC stadium is a bigger version of it I'll really like it.

It sucks that the 49ers won't be playing in the city, but it's time to move on.
I, for one, can't wait to see the 49ers play at their new stadium.
Especially since they are one of the best teams in the league again!

We can call the new Santa Clara Stadium Candlestick Park II similar to how Chicagoians still call US Cellular Field Comiskey Park

The City of SF massively f**ked up -- and now that a winning team is back they have egg all over their face. Serves them right! They thought they could push the franchise around to extract huge concessions for a new stadium -- concessions for their liberal agenda of social programs. Good thing they put their citizens first to oppose the stadium because of its price tag. Instead of a first class stadium in the most beautiful city in the world, now the city will be left with an empty eye-sore producing absolutely ZERO revenue for the City. Nice job they did for the City!
How long do you think it will take the City to decide what to do with the stadium site? 10 years - yeah right. 20? 30? 50? We'll have a empty, delapidated, slum inducing site for everyone to look at as a reminder of what could have been -- and for every airplane viewer to look down on and think what a dump SF has become.

Sorry I want a new stadium for this team. The players deserve a better facility. And yeah the city of SF pretty much doesnt wanna give us a legit place to build a new stadium, so screw them. I'm fine with Santa Clara, its close enough to SF, our headquarters are there, im all for it.
My 1st 49er game I hope is Home Opener for the new stadium, I want to go so bad, but I wanna wait till the new stadium.
