They def have the best 2 D tackles. The saints have the best O- line in the league, 3 pro bowlers. Second drew makes quick decisions and gets the ball out of his hands. Third, they have to respect the saints run game. And last, the saints are excellent at running screens. Go check the stats over the past 5 years. D. Brees is one of the least sacked QB's in the league. The giants wasn't able to get to him. The sack leader J. Allen wasn't able to get to him. J. Abraham wasn't able to get to him. All are very good pass rushers. It's gonna come down to if SF can score touchdowns, not field goals. This offense is rolling right now. I'm not saying they are gonna hang 40+ on SF but SF is goin to have to score in the 30's to win this game. 17-24 is not gonna get it done. I would think differently if it was raining and windy. But right now the forecast is 65, clear, and 5-6 mile/hr wind. Which means weather will not be a factor.
Suh might be the most overrated player in the game. He did nothing against us. Ever hear of Adam Snyder? Probably not. Well, he handled Suh.
Ray McDonald might be the most underrated 3-4 end in the game. Constantly collapsing the pocket, almost as much as J Smith, but one notch below him.
You think people can't run on us because of J Smith and Patrick Willis? Its the ENTIRE front seven. They are the best in the league.
Both middle linebackers are All-Pro's.J Smith is an All-Pro, Soap is as good a run stuffer in the league, and McDonald is just a notch below J Smith.
Nobody knows about our OLB's because it is their first year starting. One of them almost broke the rookie sack record (A Smith) playing part-time, and the other one is another very good player (Brooks).
The Lions have Suh, a rookie and a couple speed rushers. Their linebackers are OK. Comparing their front 7 to ours is like comparing Matt Ryan to Drew Brees, and calling them both "good" quarterbacks. Drew Brees is on another planet from Ryan. Just as our front seven is compared to the Lions; we're on a completely different level.
J Smith and McDonald/Soap are flat out better than Suh and Williams/Fairley. I have NEVER seen a game where J Smith does nothing. Suh did NOTHING against us. And he did nearly nothing against the Saints.
Aldon Smith and Ahmad Brooks are three levels beyond Bosch and Avril. Smith and Brooks can both stop the run, they can also bull rush AND speed rush; especially Aldon Smith. There is absolutely no comparison to those two pretty good speed rushers.
Then their is Willis and Bowman. All-Pro's. All over the field. Ridiculous athleticism. Both are excellent blitzer's and tacklers. I like Tolloch a lot, but there is just no comparison.
You bring up INDIVIDUAL names like "J. Allen" etc. You can block J. Allen with two guys, Brees can deal with the loss of that extra receiver. The difference is, you need TWO blockers for J. Smith, you need TWO blockers for A. Smith. If you don't block McDonald with two, then he is going to have a good game. Same with Brooks. You have to block EVERYBODY.
I don't know who will win the game. I think it's a toss up. But please don't think you are facing anything remotely resembling the Lions.
