Most of Nolan's picks, regardless of high or low round, have panned out. I'm sure I can't possibly be the only one here thinks Nolan did a good job in the draft while he was here.

Most? MOST of his picks have panned out? Rasheed Marshall, Derrick Johnson, Daven Holly, Marcus Maxwell, Patrick Estes, Brandon Williams, Melvin Oliver, Vickiel Vaughn, Jason Hill, Jay Moore, Joe Cohen, Thomas Clayton, Kentwan Balmer, Chilo Rachal, and Cody Wallace all did not pan out. Really, the only guys who have played as good or better than how they should have based on where they were drafted are Gore, Walker, Willis, RayMac, Goldson, T. Brown, Grant, and Morgan. That's 8 guys. He drafted 35. Only 8 out of thirty freakin five guys lived up to the expectations you'd have for them based on where they were drafted.

Kinda biased how you took the time to research every bad player Nolan has drafted but when mentioning the good players, you name them off the top of your head lol.

Frank Gore, David Baas (starter here, starter in NY as well), Adam Snyder, Vernon Davis, Parys Haralson, Delanie Walker, Patrick Willis, Joe Staley,Ray McDonald, Dashon Goldson, Tarell Brown, Josh Morgan and Larry Grant are all very deserving of where they were drafted. You can argue other players like Manny Lawson and Michael Robinson are as well. You can miss on some picks like Marshall, Oliver, Vickiel Vaughn, Marcus Maxwell and Derrick Johnson (all of which were picked in the FIFTH round OR LATER btw) if you're gonna bring in Hall of Fame talent like Patrick Willis and Pro Bowl talent like Gore, Vernon, Staley, McDonald and Goldson.

With Nowin and Dingletary coaching I don't think this team would have been much better with Rodgers.

The ones who didnt pan out were mainly low picks.

I think we would have been better. Many of those coaches failed because they put all their eggs in the Alex Smith's basket.

Perhaps the one guy I should have included is Staley. But, no, not all those players lived up to where they were drafted. Just because certain guys have played well at times doesn't mean they met or exceeded how they should have been consistently playing based on where they were picked. Vernon Davis has played well at times, especially in '09, but no way he's played well enough to warrant having been picked 6th overall. If I told you before the '06 draft that the 6th overall pick would only make 1 pro bowl in his first 6 seasons, would you consider that a success? Or that he'd only have more than 7 TD's in 1 of his first 6 seasons? Or only average 42 receiving yards per game through his first 6 years? Again he was the SIXTH pick OVERALL in the draft. To justify that selection, he should be consistently putting up 1000+ yards and 10+ TD's. He's never done the former and only done the latter once. Baas was the 33rd overall pick and really only had 1 decent year. If you were psychic and knew Baas' career was gonna unfold the way it did, would you choose him 33rd overall if you had to do it all over again?? Snyder and Haralson are decent role players, but certainly not guys where you say "wow, I can't believe we were able to get him where we did." As for the rest of the guys (Gore, Walker, Willis, RayMac, Goldson, Brown, Morgan, Grant), I acknowledged they were good picks whose play has been better than what you'd expect based on where they were picked. So I'm not sure what point you're trying to make. Most teams get better than expected value out of significantly more than 9 out of 35 picks.

Currently the QB of a 12-3 team that is on the verge of getting a playoff bye.

Simply not true. Manny Lawson (decent at certain things but drafted to be a pass rusher), Brandon Williams, Jason Hill, Jay Moore, Balmer, Rachal, Cody Wallace all didn't pan out and they were all selected in the first 4 rounds. And Baas should probably be included there also because for the expectations you'd have for a 33rd overall pick, he did not meet them. Michael Robinson maybe could be included there too. Good special teamer, but he was brought in to be a legit backup to Gore, which he never turned out to be.

The best GMs miss more than hit on their draft picks. It's a simple numbers game.

He had 4 drafts here. What the hell kind of team goes 4 drafts without hitting on a few good players? Naming some of the g oood picks we had doesn't really signify much.
The 49ers before him. Compare his drafts to the ones before him. If I remember, we drafted Kwame Harris, Rashaun Woods, Mike Rumph etc. in the 1st round.

Agreed. Nolan didn't blow all of his picks. He added to the talent of this team and you cannot deny that. Plus, I give him props for coming in and cleaning house to start over again. He was the first coach to do that since Bill Walsh. He cut away the dead wood from the team and started adding youth. True, we went downhill from there, but we were already in a free fall when he arrived.

that.
i think Nolan's original roster would have gotten Harbaugh fired too. 6 years later A Smith is still the same guy, his suppot finally got better

McCloughan and his scouts get the majority of the credit IMO. Don't forget McCloughan had to pound the table against Nolan and Sing to draft Willis.
