Also, I think you are confusing throws and completions. I believe you are using Smith's average yards per completion and multiplying it by Brees # of throws attempted, which will give you an inaccurate and unrepresentative answer, on top of it being some pretty remarkable extrapolation.

no its 7.06 yards per complition yes but they take it off the attempts thrown so technicially

2968 yards for 253 complitions is 11 yards

so what i wrote before is correct

and of course im not saying it will happen

but from those stats to say he cant get 4000 yards with saints WR is simply absurd i mean the seperation those WR gets compared to ours is just ridiculous

Just like the Colts WR's. They are wide open all day. P Manning throws to Pro-Bowl WR's. This is the only reason he has been a good quarterback.

BTW, haven't seen any Colts games this year. How many records are those wide open Colts receivers breaking this year?

There a million factors that go into any position, to separate a player, especially at quarterback.

Cam Newton made a play last week, that was almost impossible to believe.
He had the pocket completely collapse around him from all sides while he was in the ENDZONE. Just stop right here and think about this. What would most quarterbacks do in this situation?
They would either throw the ball away, or get sacked for a safety. There was absolutely nowhere to run. Most would probably try and throw the ball away incomplete.
Cam Newton just stayed there in the pocket, and made an unbelievable throw down field, to a receiver who was COVERED. He completed the pass because he threw it where only the receiver could make a play on the ball. The receiver caught the ball, the DB's momentum carried him out of position, and the receiver ran for the touchdown.
This play has little to do with "accuracy", "arm-strength", or really any other measurable. It simply has to do with QB "ability".

Drew Brees made a play on Monday night, where he had a blitzer running free STRAIGHT AT HIM. What would most quarterbacks do? Again, most would panic, try and scramble, and maybe throw to a check down or throw the ball away; or even take a sack.
What did Brees do? He scrambled away from the completely free blitzer, stopped, set his feet, keeping his eyes down field, he throws a 30+ yard touchdown pass.
The statistics for the game never show the amazing play that Brees made.

These types of plays are what make a quarterback a "Pro-Bowl" quarterback.
Sitting in the pocket and making a throw is not a good play. It is EXPECTED. Scrambling from a blitzer and throwing the ball away to prevent a sack is not a good play, it is EXPECTED of most quarterbacks.

When you have NO TIME to throw, yet you still find a way to throw a touchdown anyway? That is what makes Drew Brees and Cam Newton so incredible.

How good do you think their teams would be if they had the NFL's #1 defense supporting them? With a top 5 NFL special teams? Pretty good. Pretty amazingly good.

ive seen alex do both

i thini ti was against the steelers (im not entirely sure he had no room in the pocket and launched a pass to a guared vernon davis and also im not to sure as i havebt reseen nit but the one where ginn lost the ball in the air he was completely surronded and threw a perfect pass i remember thinking it because i thought it would be an int because i thought he was hit while he was thrown

and ive seen alex escape saacks numerous times to make plays ... really there are too many to count

he has made a lot of nothing into something plays this season even turned a few disasterous plays to positives

He's not a bust. He's just not that "good" when COMPARED to what other quarterbacks are able to do.
He does a lot of good things, and manages (YES manages) a game very well.

With our defense and special teams, we are dangerous following this formula.

Smith is what he is. After seven years, the "if only" stuff is so tired at this point.
Lmao. Everytime I read one of brianGO's posts concerning Alex or qb's in general, he always seems so divisive towards smith but also tries to hide it

He implied that you can fit Smith into the Saints offense, and everything would just "work". That is what he originally implied. I don't like to quote the whole giant thing if I can avoid it.

Almost every touchdown throw Brees made on Monday night was SUPER PERFECT ACCURATE. The poster says, the WR's are just running wide open. We are seeing two different things. So I had to point out very specific irrefutable plays that demonstrate exactly what players like Brees are capable of, in order to highlight very clearly the difference between what we have, and what teams like the Saints have.

I AM divisive when posters say Smith "could should would" play like Brees or other top quarterbacks. "If only the WR's", "if only the O-line", "if only the offensive coordinator" did this and that and the other thing, then Smith would be just like those other quarterbacks and throw for 4,000 yards.

Yes, in those situations I am very divisive. I do not want to hide this opinion in any way.

Brees was 23/39 I believe so there's 16 missed throws dude. Of course he was accurate on touchdown throws. That's like saying "when Kobe Bryant hits 3 pointers he is always accurate". BTW he never said Smith would do AS WELL as Brees, he just said that he would have better numbers than he does right now. I don't see how that's so outrageous. Yeah Brees is accurate and fantastic with ball placement but his WRs have physical attributes ours don't(Colston is 6'4'', TE Jimmy Graham is 6'8'' I believe), either height or really good speed. I don't see how you don't think that can help a QB play better.

yeah and after last year you were saying "after 6 years, we know the guy is a mediocre bust". I'll give him a 2nd year in Harbaugh's system plus a healthy or upgraded recieving corps before I pass judgement.

I honestly see Smith making giant strides going into next season. He'll have a whole offseason to study the same offense for the first time in his career.

And like you mentioned, hopefully an improved WR corps.

I smell 27-30 TD's next season.
