I vote to start this guy over Staley!

Yes, and I'd then move him to RT and then slide Davis to RG.

I think that lineup, given some playing time could become very solid indeed!
My own analysis confirmed as well...nice work and nice find!

I would start with his childhood and then publicly analyze his drinking history.
Nice job. You touch on something that I notice watching on NFL Rewind. Snyder is an upgrade over Rachel, and that is truly sad. He missed a lot of blocks in this game, and when he pulls on run plays, he often whiffs. He runs right by the guy that penetrates and hits Gore/Hunter.

Maybe the 49ers blockers need to be told to keep it simple -- don't run by a guy looking for your designed assignment, JUST hit the first guy that is in the way!!

This may be why the darn 9ers can only generate run yards out of the heavy formations - when the Guard and fullback miss their blocks, there is another FB or TE still coming to clean it up!! LOL They need 5 blockers to block 3 defenders.

(Just being harsh, I know)
Thanks for the post. I've been an ABoone fan for a while. Moving Staley to RT and Davis to RG seems like a great off season project - and who knows, it could work.
it seems to me the major holes on our OL are when defenses run stunts or run zone dog blitzes up the middle...especially when chilo is in

Not sure if you're talking to me or someone else but i did NOT write this article. I stumpled upon it and shared. My bad if I didn't give due credit.

Oh, well thanks for posting. Thanks for finding it for the rest of us!
After watching Boone every single play of the game, here is what I saw:

1) He should be the starter at left tackle, absolutely no doubt about it. He did not allow a single pressure or even get pushed back more than a step or two the ENTIRE game. It looked like DE's were confused at how to attack him. He has this low awkward looking base but then punches out his long arms to jam the DE then engulf them. He plays mean and is the answer at LT.

2) There were a couple plays where the offensive formation had him line up on the right side.... where he was far less effective. Boone should be the starter and Staley should be our swing tackle, or move Staley to RT and have AD start practicing some guard.

He's 6'8, quick, strong and has the length to get a hand on speed rushers to run them out of the play. He needs to start from here on out. Move Staley back to RT and start transitioning AD to guard (he played some there in college). That would also help with AD's false starts since he will be right next to the QB.

I suggest everyone go back and watch every play of Boone, he absolutely dominated and was the first lineman to get to the second level to start destroying LB's and safety's after his initial assignment. Thank god Baalke extended him, he is a big find and we have our 6'8 LT of the future.

Thank you so much. I came to this exact same conclusion in rewatching every snap of his too. He was probably, even cold coming in off the bench, the only OL who wasn't pushed backwards or beaten often. He did a good job sealing the edge too. To me, he feels contact and then "attacks" rather than immediately starts moving backwards and with contact, gets beat or overpowered back into Alex's pocket/face. He moved DL and blitzers forward! I also liked the fact that he did not just block his guy and stand around...once he had his guy beat and out of the play, he moved to the next level or the other side of the field and continued to block. I'm so effing tired of our OL just standing around if their first contact doesn't work. How many times do you see Alex sacked in under 3 seconds with three defenders laying on top of him while 3 OL are just standing there watching or looking down field. WTF? There is no "attack" mentality on this OL anymore like we had earlier in the season with Davis (Suh) and Iupati. Maybe we need a Kilgore in there too...

Maybe we need an attacking mentality of Boone - Iuptai - Goodwin - Kilgore - Davis with Staley as the swing T and Synder as the swing G/T.

Exactly, he is almost catlike when pass protecting meaning he reads the defender and doesnt automatically start shifting his wait till the defender makes the first move and then he counterpunches those long arms to the defenders shoulder pads quicker then the defender can swat at them, and then its just over. He keeps his arms in tight not allowing the defender to swat or rip, then punches the second they are within his range. Callais Cambell is what like 6'6 and was getting dominated, I dont see too many other defenders with the length to avoid Boone's initial punch and then block. I would really like to see how he does against smaller guys like Harrison (even though hes suspended) to see if he can handle the short squatty passrushers too.
Hey look, Maddog was right!!

On the other hand, Iupati did not have a good game.
