We have been terrible at third downs all year.......
Good teams are good at third down
We are now 30th in the league in third down conversions with 30 percent
The offense has big problems and it starts at the QB position. Why do you think that teams cannot blitz all day against GB or NE? Because those QBs make you pay when you bring the heat. Alex Smith is unable to get the ball out quickly to his hot read.

Yeah, they need to adjust and have better hot route options against the blitz. If you notice Smith is still doing his normal progressions when blitzed, which leads to him holding the ball too long. Needs more quick outlets. He could also play better, but the whole offense needs to play better.

But to say he is not part of the problem are ignoring the big red Elephant in the room

People need to stop with this "Alex hater" b******t. He didn't look good out there. The rest of the offense looked s**tty as well but Smith made bad plays, bad passes......at some point the QB has to step up and impose his will and MAKE plays, Alex has yet to show he can do that.

I'm no haters. I am actually supporting Alex. He is the QB of my favorite team. This guy is what he is, a mediocre QB that needs everything around him to work in order to win a game. When asked to win a game by himself, he can't do it. Don't give me the Lions, or the Giants, or Bucs game because a mediocre QB every once in a while can have a good game. This guy is scared. This guy can't think when under pressure.

Alex is a top 15-20 quarterback. Not elite, but he won't hurt you.

So they are terrible on 3rd downs and terrible in the red zone. And folks think we have the advantage in Lambeau.

Play calling was the biggest culprit today. I still don't think Alex Smith is the answer next year, but this loss goes on the coaching staff.

We have 10 wins because of Alex.
Our D gave up 21 points. Our O-line looked like swiss cheese. We had one good run all day. Sure he takes some of the blame, but there is plenty to go around.
