The 89 team only didn't three peat because Craig fumbled.
Joe, it was more than one defensive player. The 49ers lost Ricky Watters after 94 also who was a HUGE part of the offense. Even Steve Young was really POed at the front office for letting Ricky go and with him went any semblance of a reliable running game. Terry Kirby and Dexter Carter were terrible replacements. Not until Garrison Hearst's arrival did we again have a runner who could actually balance the passing attack. Yes we had problems when Sanders left, but Young got killed and the offense became one dimensional because Young became the team's primary running back. I remember watching those games. :(
What about the year before they got Deon? They had Watters then. The 94 offense did not have as much talent as the 89 offense.

the 94 team was unstoppable. everybody knew before the Super Bowl began that it would be a blowout. I think even the Chargers knew they had no chance.

Deion made a huge difference that season, but we still had an incredible secondary. in his HOF speech, Deion said himself, Eric Davis, Merton Hanks, and Tim McDonald was the greatest starting defensive backfield hed even seen.

The 89 team-because of the way they dom inated the playoffs and Roger Craig was a better player than Rickey Watters. Ricky was perhaps a slightly better receiver out of the backfield, but Craig was a way better runner. Plus Rathman not only protected protected the QB, lead the way for craig, but was great out of the backfield.
As for the Dieon argument, We had problems getting past the Cowboys till Dieon put us over the top.

This, 49ers got curb-stomped by the Packers the following year largely because they had no running game. The Walker fumble still gives me nightmares to this day. Had the 49ers resigned Ricky Watters, I could have seen them winning at least 1-2 more Superbowls. Derek Loville and his 3 yards per carry simply wasn't up to the task.
Wow, you guys are bringing up some bad memories I had surpressed...... That's why I hate the Packers and hope we crush them in the playoffs.......
My vote goes to the '89 team as better.......... My favorite is 94, because they finally kicked the Cowboys butt in the NFC Championship......

I'm a huge Steve Young homer so this is a tough question. But I think the answer is clear. 2009 49ers led by Shaun Hill beats either of them easily.

Have to agree, watch the second quarter of the 84 Super Bowl, the 49ers annihilated a very good Dolphin team.

The 1990 team would beat both those teams, it was a damn fluke we lost that game against the Giants

(worst loss ever)

the 94 team can beat any NFL team to date, in my eyes. Not to throw the 89 team under the bus because i love them all but i would have to take steve young and that 94 team

Hard one, but I think the 94 team is top three best offense of all time.

89 team offense was better then the 94 offense. But neither of these teams had the best Niner offense. I believe the 84 offense was better when they had Wendal Tyler running the ball. They couldnt be stopped.
