Eddie D wanted to win at all costs. more than likely did illegal things to give us the edge. he built a winning structure that resulted in 5 super bowl titles, and a 20 year span of dominance as a franchise. so far Jed has done well to get the team out of the hole it was in, but he has a long way to go before he reaches the level of the leagues top owners. I prefer to give the credit to the players and coaches. credit Jed for hiring those guys, but everything after that is out of his control. he looks alot better by comparison to his father, who was an awful owner.

between making some smart hires, getting the stadium deal back on track and possibly done, and doing what good owners do in getting out of the football experts way, hes light years ahead of his dad already. I just dont believe the 49ers recent successes have had much to do with him.

For years us Niners fans have said "It starts at the top" when referring to our persistent losing. Well the same holds true now that we're winning. It starts at the top.

Had Jed not hired Baalke and then they not hired the guy with "situational appeal" (Which reeks of Eddie and Walsh scenario since the two were compared in your post) and we continued to lose then Jed would continue to take blame. As such the reverse is true. Jed DOES get credit, unless of course you downplay Harbaughs intelligence and assume that any ol ignoramus could have swayed him to the bay, and that Harbough did not at all take into consideration where his career was going if he started it with an owner who wasn't going to allow him to be successful.

Jed had as much, if not more, to do with Harbaugh being a Niner as Baalke did. So again, he gets credit. Period.

so if recent successes have nothing to do with jed than recent failures have nothing to do with jed. you can't blame him without giving him credit as well

I think more than anything he just has a passion for the sport and for the team. I mean, how would any 29-30 year old guy have the knowledge to build a winner by himself? Jed certainly doesn't, but he's been aggressive when he's needed to be in both getting and getting rid of personnel when the time was right. Obviously, nabbing Harbaugh was a coup, so if nothing else, the guy must be some kind of a salesman.

I think there is a lot more that goes on with running a franchise than just hiring a coach and GM and getting out of the way. If that's all there is to grade than he would get an A+ grade. I hear you saying he is years ahead of daddy York so I get your point??? Last year, all the networks would say that we couldn't get a big time coach because no one wanted to play for a poorly run franchise and terrible owner. He has turned the SF organization perception around pretty quick. We have to keep going, and we have to stay on top but I think most of us would agree that we look on track for a couple of years.

The stadium progress and announcing that next years ticket prices will not rise despite our recent success is also a good job IMO...
