We wanted Sing out, we wanted a drafted QB and HB, we got it. We wanted a Gore extention (which at the time looked really sketchy)
we wanted Harbro REALLY BAD ,and I didn't think we were able to get him after Miami sent him hookehs, but we did. Braylon Edwards as well.

So.........the assist to ninertalk?

Props to Jed. No doubt.

the assist to ninertalk coming from ninertalk....brilliant

Doubt it. Smith would have been out.
I give the guy major props, the difference between his dad and him is night and day. Hes respects the extent of his position, fulfills his duties, is a passionate fan, and is sitting back and letting the gears turn. You can tell Jed genuinely wants the team to win.

thats what every good owner does. find the guys who can run your team, and let them work. dont try and get involved, dont try and make football decisions. Jed did that, and im glad. but as far as the team winning? Harbaugh, Baalke, and the framework of a well built defense from the Singletary regime. a huge part of Harbaughs success this season has come from having a D that was already top 10, and ready to become elite with the right coaching. hes still got a ways to go with developing the offense, which is fine. thats his specialty.

so according to you then eddie D gets no real credit for the team winning in the 80's as well

lol so because he offered an NFL coaching job to a local college coach and that coach accepted it, now Jed York is the best owner in football? How on earth am I implying that Eddie D should get no credit? Jed York has no track record of success before this season. One coaching hire that had alot more to do with situational appeal than Jed's negotiating ability isnt going to get him a ton of credit yet IMO.

Eddie D wanted to win at all costs. more than likely did illegal things to give us the edge. he built a winning structure that resulted in 5 super bowl titles, and a 20 year span of dominance as a franchise. so far Jed has done well to get the team out of the hole it was in, but he has a long way to go before he reaches the level of the leagues top owners. I prefer to give the credit to the players and coaches. credit Jed for hiring those guys, but everything after that is out of his control. he looks alot better by comparison to his father, who was an awful owner.

between making some smart hires, getting the stadium deal back on track and possibly done, and doing what good owners do in getting out of the football experts way, hes light years ahead of his dad already. I just dont believe the 49ers recent successes have had much to do with him.

Exactly right. And we'd have Quinn as a backup OLB, or Amukamara as our 4th corner right now.
Props to Jed for being Jed. Huge upgrade from his pops. But, we need to stop the comparisons to the almighty Eddie D.
Jed is making his own footprint on the Niners. Took him a few years but he seems to of turned the corner. The buck starts and ends with the man in charge and that man is Jed York. As far as Niners99 comment regarding the defense which was a direct result of Sing there is some truth to that. But the big difference in the defense this year is the offense. We are no longer going 3 and out we are getting first downs and controling the clock way better, hence the defense doesnt have to spend near as much time on the field which now the defense is now a lights out defense.
I'll feel better about Jed when his parents are dead or in a retirement home...or we win a Super Bowl.

Can't wait for the new stadium though, that was/is his biggest accomplishment.

I think there is a lot more that goes on with running a franchise than just hiring a coach and GM and getting out of the way. If that's all there is to grade than he would get an A+ grade. I hear you saying he is years ahead of daddy York so I get your point??? Last year, all the networks would say that we couldn't get a big time coach because no one wanted to play for a poorly run franchise and terrible owner. He has turned the SF organization perception around pretty quick. We have to keep going, and we have to stay on top but I think most of us would agree that we look on track for a couple of years.

The stadium progress and announcing that next years ticket prices will not rise despite our recent success is also a good job IMO...

Let's slow our collective roll. Eddie D is arguably the greatest owner in sports history in terms of success over a 20 year period. Jed is about to make his 1st playoff run. Plus Eddie was mobbed up (which makes him cooler) whereas Jed seems more like silver spoon kid. There will never be another Eddie D.

Dude! Look at what you're saying. Half the teams in this league have owners who dilly dally in every little move and DON'T get out of the way. Look no further than Dan Snyder with the Redskins. Or how about Jerry Jones with the Cowboys?

AL DAVIS WITH THE RAIDERS?

Hello?

Give Jed proper credit for hiring the right guys and getting out of the way. A lot of owners fail on both points.
