Knee high white stocking, a fashion statement? Sure. They lost a bet or were being punished.
No man in his right mind would take the field looking like a sissy.

What I found interesting is the "it might be a tax write-off" comment. With fines going to charitable causes, I wonder if all fines can be tax write-offs and it's been an unspoken understanding that the fines don't actually cost players anything.

I think it's long been an understanding that ticky-tacky fines don't cost a player anyting. I think that's why the big fines for head shots have become an issue.

I don't want players wearing whatever the hell they want on the field. Don't put on the uniform and play for the team if you can't conform and wear the 49ers proudly with its history behind it. Someone should kick Ginn's ass before he even stepped on the field with those whites socks on. The f*ck was he thinking...
I agree with you.

While you guys are worrying about socks I was busy rewatching Tebow's receivers dive for his passes...but he is the darling of the "experts" right now. Funny how they follow like buzzards circling the latest fashion.
Too bad the 9ers receivers need to wear rule breaking socks to get attention. They could try to catch passes and people would start noticing.

Might be ghey, but they are the rules.
I must preface all this by saying I do worship with Paul Lukas at the altar of Uniwatch.com. That said, an earlier poster here said that they should wear the Niners colors proud and I agree. The Niners uni socks do and always have shown a significant amount of red. Ginn showed NO red whatsoever. He broke the rules he got fined. Good call I say. Ironically, do you guys know who is in charge of the NFL's "uniform police"?
Merton Hanks.
Funny, because back in his day (before players were regularly fined for uniform violations), Ol' Merton was without a doubt one of the envelope pushers of the NFL uniform rules. When Deion Sanders signed with San Francisco, he went completely off the deep end uni-wise!

What does the NFL do with all of the money they collect in fines? They must gross well over a million dollars each week of the NFL season...
