Bdog, you are a sarcasm machine...
sure looks it the way he hits..... a faster leaner tim macdonald
Goldson has to be more consistent last year he sucked this year he playing well. Guy can cover ground, is a hard hitter and gets some picks. Lott could cover ground look at the NFC Championship game against the Rams as an example, had 10 straight pro bowl seasons, 50+ interceptions (I think), and did put fear in the WR and TE. When Lott played there were many WR who flat out would not go across the middle knowing Lott was around. While Goldson is a hard hitter he doesn't create that kind of fear.
whoa whoa whoa WHOA WHOA!

whoa....
I dont think Goldson could ever come close to Lott. I do like how he plays mean though. Patrick Willis is our generation's Ronnie Lott...

I'm guessing you never watched Ronnie Lott play, or you wouldn't need to ask this question. I like Dashon a lot. Like the attitude he brings to the defense, like the way he's playing this year. He's a good solid player. But that's a far cry from being a HOF'er. Dashon is good; Ronnie was great. Dashon contributes; Ronnie dominated.
Ronnie Lott made some of the best hits EVER in the game. He was the leader on our defense, the QB of the defense. He has 62 picks lifetime I think.

Dashon has a long way to go to be lott (like 10 more productive year). The biggest problem is that, you can't hit guys now like you could then. I see glimpses of Lott at times, but Lott was so consistent. I remember him Blowing up Eric Dickerson, William Andrews, George Rogers......the list goes on and on.

But I'll take Dashon "The Destroyer".......he's playing great for us.

Goldson is a very good player and still underrated by the WZ and 49ers fans in general IMO. But he's not as fast as Ronnie Lott was. What Goldson does well is be very instinctive and he is a very hard hitter who doesn't shy away from impact. He changes our secondary when he is in. Remember how bad our secondary was at the beginning of the year without him? Yet we still have some guys saying "we don't need Goldson" next offseason in FA.... "He is easily replaceable."...

Goldson is somebody we SHOULD resign. We will have to pay him. But our defense drop off without him in a big way IMO.

We need to resign this guy.
Funnier than Cohn saying we blow out Baltimore
Ehh i like Goldson alot and it kind of hurts me to say this but hes not even the next Merton Hanks yet so lets just Let Dashon be himself and see how good he can be

Yeah I need a certain amount of posts for credibility

The game is called so much different now. Its tough being in the secondary the refs don't make it easy and some of those hits that Lott had probably wouldn't be legal today. I think he is very important to what we do and does a great job trying to launch with his shoulder and keep his hits legal. Goldson has made some big hits on running backs too. Been hyped about this guy for a few years now. Talked to Brit Miller a couple of years ago and he said the guy is nuts and they call him, "The Human Rocket."
Ronnie Lott holds the record for most pass deflections while not being in on the play. WR would drop passes if they thought Lott was going to hit them. OC game planned around him. Do you think any WR says, "oh crap we are playing Goldson this week?"
