how the players talk about Harbaugh to the media IMO is genuine. a lot of these guys i belive will be willing to stay in SF for less. (how many of these guys have rosenhaus as their agent though...)

I know they would offer Spillman and R. Smith a contract. Spillman is a special teams ace, and Smith was having a great camp before he got hurt and is a solid back up at S.

Why wouldn't you? They haven't been needed for larger playing time and what's the guarantee that they find players with better skill sets then what they bring to the table. By all accounts they are great special teamers and play hard so I would rather keep them on our roster then go searching for ST only players.

I think the coaches and Management like Brock also. Isn't he super young?

Im not sure what people see in Dashon that they dont like, seems to me this season he's made big plays every game. You gotta face the fact that every safety isnt gonna produce like Ed Reed or Troy Polomolu but Dashon's been a hardcore 49er for a long time and is just now hitting his prime. Keep this dude.

Smith is always injured, not reliable. Because Goldson is a contract enigma right now I have us going after a FS very early anyways. I like Reggie but he can not be counted on. Spillman I had has a maybe so I'm not against bringing him back. But again I have us looking at SS in the draft. This should be a very heavy DB year draft wise.

I kind of responded to this below but will reiterate. Goldson might want crazy money, Smith cant stay healthy, M Williams is trash and Spillman is a ST only guy. We need players who can start and be effective in normal game time situations. We should be drafting heavy at DB this year and we need starters, or starter quality. This is where good team become great, having quality depth at all positions. If Goldson or Whiter go down we have nothing decent behind them, all of those spots need to be upgraded.

Yes I agree, we need to draft 2 or 3 DBs.

At CB Rogers, Culliver are the locks, Brown and Brock should compete for 1 spot, draft a CB, I actually want to give Holcomb a shot as a backup.

S wise, Whitner is the only lock, I think Spillman stays for STs with Jones, then we need a true FS and SS backups, plus FS starter if Goldson isnt back.

I'm very worried we are going to get gutted in the offseason. When we win the Superbowl I dont know how we keep our D together, not to mention Smith's asking price has probably doubled in the last month.....
