This year must be really hard for you....

It reminds me of when Vernon Davis had 965 and 13 TD's and then followed it up with 900 + and 7 TD's and Krizay would routinely disappear from threads...

Not me man Im always here to face the music. Unlike others on this site I dont mind being proven wrong.

Hey at least you are a stand up guy... If he makes the NFC Championship game give him a break for a while. And if he makes the Super Bowl admit he is FAR BETTER than you ever thought.

Of course I will give his props. I already have admitted he has improved from a bottom 5 QB into a middle of the pack QB. His stock is definitely going up, and you gotta admire his hard work. Now the big thing we will be if he can take it to the next level.

So if we win a couple of playoff games then we start planning his goodbye party? I don't get that. He deserves a t least another year, if not two more, under the same staff, in the same offense. He's earned it, dude.

Earning sh**....if earning had anything to do with anything.....then Alex Smith should have 6 SB's, he works hard, tough minded, smart, dedicated, been through alot with the coaches, personell, and fans booing him, so he earns a SB right?....Im just playing but Im saying is that if we Frachise him it would tooooo high for "MY" taste......

We're playing fantastic football right now, but that can change with ONE bad loss, or worse, a string of them. This is a "One Game at a Time" kind of team. We can still be beat by anyone out there on the right/wrong Sunday.

Second, it's not Alex winning. Its the whole team. It is an entirely different situation, and by that I mean from their draft days up until now, for Smith and Rodgers. They are two ENTIRELY different types of quarterback doing very different things for their team. Do you honestly think if The Niners win a Bowl these two guys will be on the same level, or of equal value, or even compared in a competitive way? Take Rodgers from the Packers and they are finished. Done. Take Smith from the Niners, and yes, we are not as good, and we lose games, but that's because we have two rookies backing him up who are not ready to run this offense.

I love what Alex has done this year, and I'm very excited to see what he does after a couple of seasons with some solidarity at OC and supporting cast, but I have no illusions about what kind of QB he is. From his body of work thus far, and I know its a new offense and guys are still coming back and timing may not be there all the time with everyone, he isn't and probably won't be a top tier QB.

This is coming from an "Alex guy." I've always thought he got a raw deal from the start, and I could never fully blame him for the lousy results. This year is proof, so far, that he CAN succeed under the right direction. But if we do go deep into the playoffs, I seriously doubt it will be mostly because of his prolific play. It will be because our defense was top notch, because our running game was brutal, and because Alex made the passes he should have. Because that's how our winning has happened (pretty much) thus far.

Good Post man!!!!
Agreed, 808. Can we franchise the HC?

Good Post man!!!!

As if GB didn't have a great D last year, great WR's, great TE's and a great coaching staff. He's not working with crap either you know. He has talent around him. Any QB who wins does.

This post just makes me sick...How can you continue to hate on Alex?

Totally. But Rodgers makes that offense go. Alex is working our offense pretty well, but if you were to swap QBs, learning curve aside, GB is no longer a pass-first team.

I've been saying this for years. I mean I did hate how played but at the same time I knew he just didn't have the right coaches around him. Had Turner stayed on, he would have done some good things. Nolan and Sing were not good for Alex. Just as I was ready to totally give up on Alex, Harbaugh is hired and low and behold Alex is thriving under Harbaugh.

Goes to show that the right coaches really does make a difference. I really hope Alex proves all those haters wrong. He still doesn't get love from most analysts.
Eli, Rivers, Roethlisburger

If you're winning with the guy you selected it really doesn't matter how the #2 guy is doing.

He has a REAL chance of making the NFC Championship this year. And we can get the #1 or #2 seed. I never stopped believing in the guy. He had NoWin and SingleBrainCell. Alex is the type of guy who needs the support and develpment of a good coach. He flourishes under that. I always thought with coaching he could be pretty good. He doesn't have to be the best guy in the league. Just pretty good. We have a pretty good team around him now. So he does his thing and the others do theirs.

you have been pro Alex but anti York.....any changes on Jed?

there's an idea somehow that Alex was a crazy reach at the time, as if no one would have taken him at #1. We forget really easily that the Smith-Rodgers debate was a real one at the time, and though I think most fans wanted us to take Rodgers because of the local connection, there was really a debate. It wasn't like he was projected to be a 5th round pick and we took him at 1. He was a first round, top ten pick, guaranteed, and we failed him, and he failed us, and the whole thing was a mess. Its amazing that he's had a chance to resurrect his career with the team that drafted him. Just amazing. I hope the story continues to be such a great one.

I think the only other team interested in a quarterback that year was Tampa and it seems like Alex was #1 on their board too.

Rodgers might have gotten a bad shake because of the history of Tedford quarterbacks.

Going back to that draft day I really wanted Braylon. 7 years later we get Braylon, and Smith seems to be the answer at quarterback. I'll take it.
