Drops through week 6 for the Niners

Okay, so after spending the day watching every offensive snap from SF this season, these are my findings on our drop situation.

I was very careful not to include something "iffy" a drop, and I did not count passes that were technically caught but a receiver failed to get his feet in. Also not counting the alligator arms or penalty ones as official drops.

Seattle game 1 -

3rd and 6 drops -------
other drops ------- 1 (Gore), 1 (Crabs)
alligator arms --------- 1 (VD)
pass interference called drops --- 1 (Edwards)

Dallas game 2 -

3rd and 6 drops ------- 1 (Ginn... 3rd and 11)
other drops ------- 1 (Walker), 1 (Ginn),
alligator arms -------
pass interference called drops --- 1 (Gore)

Cincinnati game 3 -

3rd and 6 drops ------- 1 (Crabs... 3rds and 7)
other drops ------- 1 (VD), 1 (Crabs), 1 (Morgan), 1 (Gore)
alligator arms --------- 1 (VD)
pass interference called drops ---

Philadelphia game 4 -

3rd and 6 drops ------- 1 (Hunter... 3rd and 6)
other drops ------- 1 (Walker), 1 (Hunter), 1 (Crabs), 1 (Crabs), 1 (Crabs),
alligator arms ---------
pass interference called drops ---

Tampa Bay game 5 -

3rd and 6 drops -------
other drops ------- 1 (Morgan),
alligator arms ---------
pass interference called drops --- 1 (VD),

Detroit game 6 -

3rd and 6 drops ------- 1 (Walker... 3rd and 9)
other drops ------- 1 (Ginn), 1 (Gore), 1 (Crabtree),
alligator arms --------- 1 (Ginn)
pass interference called drops ---

TOTAL DROPS THUS FAR on the 2011 season = 21

This site has this count... and I know for certain they are not being as thorough as I. (either way, SF is top 10 in most drops)

Ugh... an average of 4.5 drops a game is too many.

I think they'll get it cleaned up as the season progresses, though.
lets not miss the fact either than the Walker drop on Sunday was an easy touchdown :(

No chance we could forget that.
I just signed on and I am not allowed to start a thread but I wanted to let people know that ESPN is airing a story about Patrick Willis childhood tonight on E:60 at 8pm EST. I just picked the first thread because I thought the most people would see it and maybe someone would start a thread to let people know.
I can remember Crabtree dropping at least 2 balls against the Lions
How many drops per game do the top teams have?
As usual, great work! What's that, about 3.5 drops per game. Of course some of those could've been 1st downs or TDs.
Wow, this is GREAT information! I wish we had fans who would do defensive stats (aka "team stats") b/c NFL & ESPN.com are SO off so often. For instance, you'd hear Willis has 55 tackles but according to the team, he has 76 tackles. I used to go to Pro Football Focus but that requires a subscription now as they review every single play...I trust their individual stats the most. I'm not sure how NFL/ESPN can be the "official stats" when they are so inaccurate.

Maybe I should revisit this. You have twice as many drops as I had found.

Don't really know about these videos or where to access, but I am always willing to check out any potential discrepancies.
Oldman:
When you finished your stats what conclusions did you draw? Do teams like Green Bay or New England's receivers drop as many as our team does? What can be done about it?
why do you label it 3rd and 6?
