He does what he's paid to do. Get people pissed off so they argue with him. There are lot's of beat writers that do nothing but praise the team because they won't get access if they don't. Cohn is just the latest in a long line of writers who make a living doing this. His father was the same way. So is Kawakami. Ira Miller. Glenn Dickey. These are some of the most honored writers in SF bay area history but they all had an edge to them. People read them whether they agreed with them or not. Their job was and is to get the fan base fired up. It sells.
I like TK. I can't stand Cohn. TK does the work, secures interviews, and builds a story. Cohn shows up to pressers with his story already written, then goes fishing for a quote to wrap up the piece. Just lazy. I thought it was telling when he got into a Twitter war with a national guy (Albright?) awhile back, and the guy said something like, "I didn't even know who you were, so I called the 49ers to ask. They laughed and told me not to waste my time, bc you're a joke." The team respects TK, Barber, and other guys who don't kiss their butts, because they do the work. Grant learned from his dad how to get the most pop for the least effort. He doesn't respect his craft, nor the opportunity he was born into.
