If Akers is fully healthy and rested, I stick with him. This offense is less reliant on FGs this year and now especially with Kaep under center but if I need one, I think I would trust the AllPro Akers

Thanks, Wookie, for these surprising stats. Perhaps our perception of Akers' performance is skewed by his fewer attempts. But his accuracy over 50 yards is dreadful. That opening game 63-yarder screwed up his mechanics. He hasn't made a long one since. If he stays with the team, the coaches may be forced to punt or go for a first down when the FG attempt would be 50-62 yards.

Wow. I didn't think it was that close. Something's wrong though. Off the top of my head didn't he miss at least two inside the 40 this year? The block last week and the 38 yard game winner against the rams.

These have to be inaccurate. There's NO way he was only 6-11 from 40-49 yards last season. I feel like that would have stuck out in my head big time.

Maiocco reported that Akers is 19/27 so those numbers are likely accurate. His range in the 40s is atrocious.
