Like I said before Calvin Johnson has had some of the worse quarterback play and worse talent around him. Hard to expect big numbers when there's no qb no running game and no line around him. There's a pretty good reason why this team went 0-16 2 years ago.

The same can be said to a much lesser extent with Patrick Willis. Our defense hasn't been elite since he got here. 0 top 10 finishes, 0 playoff games. Alot better than Detroit and Calvin, but better talent too.

Right now Calvin is on pace for elite production 1,400 yards 20+ touchdowns. Detroit's 5-0 averaging 30+ points a game.

Ray Lewis has a grand total of how many Super Bowls? Top 10 defense every year yet they've failed every year since 2000.

This argument goes both ways. New England lost because New York's defensive line put too much pressure on Brady. That doesn't mean every elite offense fails. I seem to recall Aaron Rodgers lighting Pittsburgh great defense up like a christmas tree last year. Pittsburgh's great defense let them down against Arizona and Big Ben had to bail them out 3 years ago.

But my point is, a great MLB is way more of an impact and is way more crucial piece to a championship team, that's why Ray Lewis was able to literally win one without a great WR or great QB at the helm...he still won one, even Derek Brooks at Tampa he was great, and played on a team with Brad Johnson and Keyshawn...

On the other hand....I can't remember the last time a team won a superbowl because WR was the missing piece...

Also bowman is good but he ain't Patrick Willis. He's just a better blitzer. If Patrick Willis is ray Lewis then bowman is Terrell Suggs. Let's see bowman lead the league in tackles as a rookie like Patrick Willis did as a rookie then we can start making comparisons. Oh wait... Bowman is a 2nd year player!

Warren Sapp is what made Tampa. Derrick Brooks is an amazing linebacker, but if you're going to take away credit for Marvin Harrison or Jerry Rice because they had a great quarterback then the reverse holds true too. Warren Sapp was the most important part of Tampa's defense.

There's been great offensive teams that won with average defenses too. Indy, New Orleans. Yeah the defensive list is bigger but all I'm saying is there's not a right or wrong answer here.

Indy built their team on picking weapons. Marvin Harrison, Reggie Wayne, Dallas Clark. These are 1st round picks, excellent wide receivers.
