Who is the most important Lion we contain on Sunday?

I'm a little concerned with the speed of Best. Our LBs are fast, but Best has some serious wheels. Shifty backs like McCoy or bruisers like Blout don't scare me, but speed kills. Best made Chicago look like they had cement blocks on their feet.

Willis and Bowman are faster than the Chicago LB's....

Well when Willis and Bowman play against the Chicago LBs, your point will be valid....

My point is, Best looks and is very, very fast.

The point being because Chicago looked slow doesn't mean we will.
if we can pressure stafford. he wont have any time to do his ill-just-throw-it-to-megatron-and-hope-he-catches-it passes.

Jahvid Best won't do much against us. Stop Megatron and we have a good chance. I'm not that concerned about Suh. He is playing inconsistent, and we have been running very well to the outside and off tackle in the last two games. We'll use two TEs often and run the ball down their throats. Just gotta make sure we stop Megatron early and establish the run to control the game. Lions have 1 good LB and 1 good DB.
How do you even stop a guy like CJ? And why don't the Lions throw to him 25 time a game?

1) You can't stop him.

2) They should.

Haralson is definitely the weak link.

Urlacher said it best. When the Bears contained the run they got burnt in the air. When they covered the air raids they got cut in half on the ground. Limit Stafford but stay stout on the run game. Best only makes the yards if we get too concern about the air game. Stick to what we know best and thats stopping the ground game.

Urlacher and Briggs got b*tch slap by the Lions. Old and slow. Those running lanes they left open was just retarded. Urlacher was never good at coverage anyway, that's really not his game. But what's really happening-- the Bears defense just sucks this year. They made the Lions offense look much better than they should be.

it's a testament to how far Detroit has come that this not an easy question to answer. They have a lot of weapons.

Stafford and Suh are the most important. They throw the ball a lot, but if you don't give them a chance to throw, if you keep the QB on the ground, then having a great receiver won't matter. As far as Suh, the opposite is true: we need to give our RB's holes and our QB time. We need more quick throws like against the Bucs, and to work the edges in the run game.

Calvin Johnson is the best receiver in the game, but I'm not sure we can really "contain" him. Unless Rogers is even better than we thought, or we come up with a brilliant scheme to take him out of the game, we're not going to be able to cover him deep down field. We just need to make sure that by the time he's far down field, Stafford is already on the ground.

contain Stafford, you contain Johnson. so stafford it is.
On the flip side, Fangio was with Saints defense back when the Niners had Jerry Rice and they had to play us 2 times a year. I think he knows what to do about C. Johnson

Ask Steve Young what Fangio and the Saints' defense did to him 2 times a year.

We have a proven track record of stopping even elite RBs. Best isn't consistent anyway but does have home run potential. My gut tells me we do what we do. Stop the run, blitz early and often to try and throw off Stafford and have Goldson play over top Johnson to prevent the big play. We could also see Rogers shadow Johnson all day no matter where he lines up. Rogers has covered the left side regardless of the WRs thus far.
We all know Megatron has the potential to hurt us ...but we gotta keep Best in check, his speed is the x-factor in their attack ..if we shut him down, we have a good chance of beating them
If you contained and pressure Stafford that should slow Detroits offense. Suh as good as he is can be neutrilized by screens, draws, running outside, and slants.
