Morgan Replacement Options

I actually like it. McCarthy has done a great job drafting WRs since he got there, he'll know our terminology, and being the odd man out on probably teethe best total WR Corp isnt a knock.

On my iPad right now, any one wanna throw up his measurables?

White guy that the Packers drafted. I mean, he has to be good if he is white and drafted by the Packers, right?

The next Jordy Nelson.
LOL was about to say the same thing
So this means no Housh or Chambers?
Next question . . . Does Morgan go to the IR or does Colin Jones go back to the PS?

This. Swain plays special teams. So no longer a need for Jones.

The team is trying to fill Joshua Morgan's spot on the game-day roster. Morgan broke a bone in his lower leg late in Sunday's win over the Buccaneers. Swain (6-0, 200 pounds), meanwhile, was drafted by the Packers in 2008. He mostly played special teams on team deep with talented wide receivers. Swain started one game last year in which he had one catch for six yards. he finished the season with six catches for 72 yards.

Swain's biggest impact came on special teams. He had three tackles in the Packers Super Bowl win and drew praise for his performance in the game. His agent, Bruce Tollner, said Swain, who played collegiately at San Diego State, has been working out in the San Diego area since being released by the Packers last month.

Yayyy.. well hope K Will and Ginn are ready
What happened to my 4th wideout thread? Oh well. So Ziggy is not an option. http://blogs.sacbee.com/49ers/archives/2011/10/wr-tryouts-houshmandzadeh-in-zeigler-out.html. My leading candidate is in for a workout. Housh actually fills the big bodied posesion reciever role. Hastings is small and matthews is on the short side. I think we like these guys as backups for Ginn or crabtree underneath but we need another BIG reciever. If Housh is in shape he probably gets signed.

We already signed Brett Swain,
HBalzer721 Howard Balzer by mattbarrows

In addition to Chris Chambers, Brett Swain and T.J. Houshmandzadeh, 49ers also worked out WR Brian Finneran today.

Swain? This can't be it. Look closer at our WR position as it stands now...Morgan is maybe done for the year, Edwards MIGHT come back at full strength after the bye week, Crabtree's foot could flare up anytime, Ginn is a limited talent at WR, Williams is inexperienced...there are too many question marks at WR now with Morgan out. It would make sense, after the progress we've seen this team make under the new coaching staff, to find a #3-caliber WR that would be a good fit with this team scheme-wise who could replace what Morgan did so well (big blocking WR w/ good hands, faster than he looks, good teammate, etc.). If the WR that fits this description needs to come in via a trade before the upcoming trade deadline, so be it as we're showing we're a team on the rise vs. the other way. The Steelers have a surplus of WRs and I hear Cotchery isn't getting much playing time...or, there must be other options. We have a good shot at making the playoffs this year and maybe doing further damage after that if we keep improving each week. Alex Smith is continuing to improve under Harbaugh and playing within the system...we need to make sure our passing game is a threat with quality, proven (and healthy) WRs to keep teams honest and let Gore and Hunter do their thing in the running game.
On 95.7 The Game, Greg Papa was saying the Raiders should trade Louis Murphy to the Niners.

Would you guys trade for Murphy? I would, but it depends on what we'd give up.
