What Alex's wristband look like this year:

Last year:

Niner's have 3-1 pass-run in their playbook. The only team to have only one run option in Tecmo Bowl.

Original Tecmo Bowl > any madden.(Period.)....period.

Just don't play against the Raiders. Bo Jackson was freakin' unstopable. Then throw the ball to Roger Craig on every down. ;-)

If you play as Rodger Craig on D, you can stop Bo Jackson and Walter Payton. You just have to push the "B" button faster to make the tackle when they lock up.

how do people not remember the play calling problems that led to the wristband.

This. I have fought a good fight in this thread but its time i end my battle. All hope is lost in here

Yes, most of us recall that, BUT can you confirm that Alex (starting with the KC game) would specifically read off plays in the huddle via his wristband (like he's doing this year)? I don't recall him doing that as part of the playcalling routine last year.

Why else would he have a wristband if he wasnt using it to call plays in the huddle? That doesnt even make sense

As a backup if the helmet comms were intermittent. Which is the excuse the team was giving early last year as to why they were late getting plays in to the huddle.
Can't hear the playcalls? Go to the wristband.

I'm asking if there is a fundamental difference this year (which the OP is also pointing out) in how plays are called into the huddle. Is Alex using the wristband as part of the playcalling routine, not just as a backup.

Only difference from last year to this year is they are using abbreviated codes instead of numbers.

Michelle Tafoya was just speaking and explaining the plan for tonight to improve the communication between Jimmy Raye, Mike Johnson and Alex Smith. The plan is have Smith wear a numbered wristband and Raye will then call down a specific number, which corresponds to various plays on the wristband.

I dont know how many times this has to be said before you guys stop making up your own stories

Thanks for the confirm.

Don't know what your bottom comment is for.

I wasn't questioning that it was used but "how" it was used. And it wasn't a rethorical "I got you" question either.

Of course we remember. I'm simply saying this is different than last year. Why is THAT so hard to understand.

Thats the only thing thats different. Harbaugh didnt invent this. Sure he used it at Stanford but we used it last year. Your whole first post implies that we are doing this for the first time and its all because of Harbaughs west coast offense.
