Different guys from different eras played with different rules and more or less contact allowed on WR's depending on the era. It's not really an apples to apples comparison.

In my post I was merely questioning whether Rodgers could get to 49 TDs. I did not attempt compare Marino and Rodgers at all. My post was also more about how difficult it has been to throw for such high number of TDs season after season. Regardless of rule changes, the reality is that next year's teams will be more prepared for Rodgers, and will make life tougher for him just like the defenses of the 80s made it tougher for Marino.

I'm sure they will do different things next year to try to slow him down some. I agree with that.
I'll tell you one thing. With the decisions Alex has made and a sprinkle of athletic play...I would not be surprised if this guy starts lighting it up in the 2nd half of the season.

I can also see us fully using his ability to run in the post season with naked bootlegs like we did with Steve Young. We held him in the pocket during regular season but all bets were off once the playoffs started.

LMAO, and everybody laughed at me when I was in constant b***hing of Alex's "Bull" facemask, the two-bar has definitely improved his throwing vision.

It's wierd seeing you be positive on Alex. I think somebody hacked your account... At least I still know Susweel is Susweel for sure without a doubt...

Subpar? So, just so I am clear, subpar means yards and TDs?

Yes

You are too caught up in fantasy football. We are 8 - 1 and that's not subpar.

I know that.

Beyond that, he's been efficient and we've had a great running game. There's been no need to put more than a couple of games on his shoulders. When we have, he's come through. Fantasy football doesn't show the 3rd and 22 down that he got us into FG territory..other than the 17 yard completion.

FF would say that Steve Young is by far a better QB than Montana...let's see how well that goes over.

To me one of the most impressive parts of the whole Smith saga is that he has had the gumption to stick around this long, it says a lot about his heart and his attitude and his character. It seems like there are only two options for QBs drafted high: succeed immediately or disappear off the face of the earth. Ryan Leaf, Tim Couch, Akili Smith, Joey Harrington, JaMarcus Russell, so many of these guys didn't find immediate success and, I don't know, got flung into space or something. I honestly thought after he missed the entire 2008 season with the shoulder injury that he was cooked, done for, like a lot of these other guys.

I think a lot of us didn't really know who this guy was.

He is one of the toughest SOBs I can recall playing QB, mentally and physically. I also am beginning to think he might get even better as a quarterback after seeing him carry the offense a few times this year.

Of course he will get better. He STILL NEVER had 2 years in the same system yet. And all his Wr's are always hurt at the beginning of the year so he can't develp chemistry with them over time.

I agree we need to find a way to get them healthy and keep them healthy, this offense would be much better if we had the same receivers all year, I just hope they get it together before the playoffs, I think we have the players we need on offense, especially when Joshua gets healthy again. I have always been kinda confused at why people b***h about Morgan, he is an above average #2 wideout and a very good 3rd option.

I think the players we have now are fine. It's just a few things.

~ 2 years same system everybody toghether. QB and Wr's and TE's.
~ Stay healthy for a full offseason (WR's especially).
~ Develop timing and chemistry.
