Pretty much Harbaugh doesnt totally trust Smith and is only asking him to do just enough not to cost the team the game. For a once proud, QB-driven franchise, congratulations Niners faithful, we have Trent Dilfer 2.0 running the show! Now before you reply with any additional Alexcuses or offer any more Har-pologies, take a moment to answer the following questions: 1) Were the Niners the only team to experience an abbreviated off season? 2) Are the Niners the only team with a new head coach and/or offensive system? 3) Are the Niners the only team with bad O-line play? 4) Are the Niners the only team struggling to run the ball? 5) Are the Niners the only team starting a rookie QB? (oops, my mistake, Alex Smith is in year 7!) Regardless, Smith's ceiling is being a "game manager", a role he is clearly comfortable with--be a good, obedient drone, run the play, dont improvise, dont take any chances, and whenever possible either throw the ball to the RB in the flat, or no more than 10 yards in the air to any other receiver. Maybe Harbaugh's not challenging him because he knows this is all Smith will ever be. Yes, the Niners are 2-1, but the offense is obviously sorely lacking. And it certainly is from lack of trying. That means he does his best with what abilities he has. Too bad Im not satisfied with that being its the most important position in the team.

-OL Does suck! but a QB that has a better arm could easily get rid of the football and not take a sack.
-QBR is the most overrated stat! Look at his performance next to QBR rating.
-Our D is awesome! we need to improve in our DB position and pass rush, but we are stout.

These can not be your best arguments! Our DBs are awesome? We need to improve DBs and pass rush but other than that...

Last year Smith was criticized for throwing the ball out of bounds rather than taking a sack, but now...

QBR is overrated, look at his performance of 2/1 with an overtime loss to a very good team but...

Smith has demonstrated he can make all the throws this week but...

Our D is awesome! D meaning overall DEFENSE. We need to improve DB those are CB and Safeties! Same position that had a brain fart during the loss to the Cowboys!!!!

I am looking at his performance! What are you looking at?! We beat Seattle! Turns out they are the worse team in the NFL and other than the TD run by Hunter and FG's by Akers, we had 3 points going in to halftime against BENGALS! So really QBR is overrated. I would take a QB with a 98% QBR with 320yds and 3 TD a game than a QB with a perfect QB rating with 200 yds and 1 TD.

You are looking at no fumbles, one interception two wins and an overtime loss to a very good team (due to our DBs) and seeing a failed QB? Just can't see that as being logical.

This game has me puzzled on many fronts. Worst game for Smith so far, but against the best D they have faced. Ran effectively and then went away from the run, came back and it wasn't there.

D has been rushing three against Vick!? Don't understand that as even a late rush from a spy, Willis or Bowman, would seem wise. They have done that on a few plays but not enough. Vick should be picking the 9ers apart with the time he has had.

Do I want to watch the 2nd half...where the 9ers have suffered somewhat? Yes! Let's see a more agressive and effective offense!
