Manning falls and the Colt's are in the Andrew Luck sweepstakes and probably would lose to the 49ers at this point. People say Manning would lose if he had the 49er offensive line and the talent that Alex has around him. I have a hard time believing this. Switch out Alex for Manning and the Colt's get Andrew Luck next year and the 49ers go far in the play-offs. IMO
Crabtree, Edwards, Vernon Davis. His weapons aren't as bad as you guys are making it out to be. Unfortunately health isn't there right now. Still good quarterbacks elevate receivers. We saw that with Romo. All of his receivers went down and he beats us with some guy they got from a reality TV show. Across the board with us it seems like if they're not a top 10 pick they have no expectations whatsoever.

I can list 15 scenarios off the top of my head about quarterbacks losing their receiver and then the next guy steps up. See Rivers last year, see how Brady elevated Branch, McNabb got to 3 NFC Title games with complete garbage at receiver. TO goes down no problem at all. Carson Palmer last year played his best football after Johnson and TO went down.
Davis is a beast but this league is about Super Star Receivers, not Super Star TE's.
Crabtree is not a Star Receiver, he's been hurt, and is learning the league.
Edwards was the go to player in Cleveland but is hurt.
Romo has had Miles Austin and Jason Witten eventhough Bryant was hurt last week.

The league is not about super star receivers, it's about super star quarterbacks. That's why Manning goes down and all of the sudden that juggarnaut turns into the worse team in football. I told you guys for years just how garbage that offensive line really was, and what would happen if Peyton got hurt.

Nothing we didn't already know, but at least Harbaugh has made it official. Pretty much Harbaugh doesnt totally trust Smith and is only asking him to do just enough not to cost the team the game. For a once proud, QB-driven franchise, congratulations Niners faithful, we have Trent Dilfer 2.0 running the show!
Now before you reply with any additional Alexcuses or offer any more Har-pologies, take a moment to answer the following questions:
1) Were the Niners the only team to experience an abbreviated off season?
2) Are the Niners the only team with a new head coach and/or offensive system?
3) Are the Niners the only team with bad O-line play?
4) Are the Niners the only team struggling to run the ball?
5) Are the Niners the only team starting a rookie QB? (oops, my mistake, Alex Smith is in year 7!)
Regardless, Smith's ceiling is being a "game manager", a role he is clearly comfortable with--be a good, obedient drone, run the play, dont improvise, dont take any chances, and whenever possible either throw the ball to the RB in the flat, or no more than 10 yards in the air to any other receiver.
Maybe Harbaugh's not challenging him because he knows this is all Smith will ever be. Yes, the Niners are 2-1, but the offense is obviously sorely lacking. And it certainly is from lack of trying.

How did you get all of that b******t from Harbaugh saying Smith "managed the game well"? Tom Brady manages games well too. So f**king what? I don't what Harbaugh thinks of Smith. I don't know if he trusts him or not. But this quote you provide doesn't give any indication that Harbaugh doesn't trust Smith. You are free to your opinions, but don't come here and try to make rediculous statements like "Harbaugh doesn't trust Smith" and that's why the play calling is conservative and base your claim on a quote like this. I swear the world is filled with 90% idiots.
I don't get why we have posts like this the day after a win.

I think you are underestimating exactly how bad Collins is at this point in his career, as well as how bad curtis painter is. The colts have something the 49ers don't have - ESTABLISHED weapons and an O-line. If you put Alex on the colts they certainly wouldn't be as good as they are with Manning, but they would be no where near as bad as they are right now.
See, people saying this kinds of things leads me to believe they haven't even watched the Colts play this year....or a football game ever in their life at all for that matter.
