Wow.... I knew this wouldn't be a pretty stat, but I was unaware of what the numbers actually were.

Here is another interesting stat that shouldn't be too surprising:

Since 2003 we are 25-24 (.510) against the NFC West, 22-59 (.272) against everyone else.

This suggests that are recent records of 7-9, 8-8, and 6-10 are inflated by a bad division. We are farther off from being a legitimate playoff team than people think. If the Niners were in any other division in the NFL, we would be a 4-win football team.

So true, all of our wins are against soft NFC west teams. If we were in the NFC east we would probably be a 2 win team.

Same thing the critics said about the 49ers in the 80's and 90's...........

Yah but we actually won games outside the division and road games. Those critics were just haters back then.
Shaun Hill got us our first win in those years I believe...we were on a losing streak...

I believe it was against the Bills, and the previous week Buffalo had just put up 50pts on the Chefs...

but Shaun, Isac Bruce, and Martz...were able to move the ball when they needed it most...and get a much needed win. Bruce was making those DBs look like amateurs.

Didn't the defense give us that win? I remember them shutting down the Bills offense.

On the road against non division opponents since 2003. Good God now that just freaking awful, I knew we were bad but this is kind of mind boggling. WTF happened to this franchise, to lose that many games on the road means the problem is deeper then just coaching. This team needed to make a major overhaul of the roster and front office but as usual York method they just put a band aid on a gunshot wound.

Who were the 4?

Philly in 2003
Denver in 2006
Detroit in 2006
Buffalo in 2008

Holy crap that's awful.

I'm depressed, knew we were bad, but not THAT bad the past decade.
we have pretty much been a bad team in general since '03, so thats not a surprising road non-division record.

technically, the Bills offense/ special teams shut itself down...lol.

Lynch has a season high 134yrds rushing...and the Bills failed to capitalize on four trips inside the red zone...

really they kind of shut down our offense....Gore only had 67 yards rushing...

but what helped our team back in those days with Martz and Shaun Hill was, we went on long drives that took time off the clock. The first drive, that ended in a TD to Bruce, took about 8mins off the clock. And we had other drives that we eventually had to punt, be we still converted 1st downs and took time off the clock....but more importantly we were resting our defense.

this was not the case this past week against Dallas...we did not convert one 3rd conversion after halftime. We didn't do our defense any favor constantly putting them back on the field.
