For starters, How about Harbaugh hires Sporano to coach our O-line if he gets caned by the fish?

Left tackle Joe Staley, as the quasi-spokesman for the 49ers' offensive line, has answered many of the same questions since the first game of the exhibition season.What is wrong with the offensive line?

The 49ers own the league's worst offense through three games. The 49ers rank 30th in rushing and 28th in passing. They're last in total offense at 213.7 yards per game -- more than 134 yards lower than the league average.

"Contrary to what everybody believes, we don't suck," Staley said. "We're good players and we play well. And it just comes down to everybody executing. It takes all 11 guys, not just the five offensive linemen, to make a run play go."

Staley pointed out that the running backs, fullbacks, tight ends and wide receivers have responsibilities in the run game. Even quarterbacks can do their part to enable a run game to function.

But, obviously, the offensive line gets most of the blame.

"Our confidence level is very high. I believe in everybody in that room, and everybody believes in their ability to get the job done.

One stat that Staley does not mind discussing: the 49ers' record. The club takes a 2-1 record to face the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.

It's a good thing they are staying positive and not falling apart ..they have the talent to form a solid O-Line , 3 first round picks on the O-Line, they should be playing a lot better...I'm looking for the offensive line to come back strong this week

Yes, his words lead me to believe he is not the leader this team needs on the OLine. His yelling and gesturing at Iupati in the preseason also bothered me. When you aren't doing your job well you shouldn't yell at others. He should have waited until they were back at the huddle and quietly schooled the young guard...or, at least, that's what a leader would have done.

And he is the experienced team mate of the group! Gads!

Look, all the OL will look better when coach Harbaw realizes that we are gonna see a box 8 every game, and we are going to see 8,9 or even 10 guys near LOS until we get them to back off. Once the OL doesn't have to account for 6,7 or even 8 or 9 guys coming, they will look one heckuva lot better. Right now the one thing the OL lacks is a HC who recognizes the box 8, and makes O calls to counter it...namely quick hitting slants/ outs. Those ultimately will back up a box 8, and once that happens, our OL can take on 3 or 4 defenders, not 7 or 8. Simply put that is our main problem right now...HC not giving alex orders to call a check off quick slant /out when he sees 8, 9 or 10 guys within a step of the LOS. Once we get our OL blocking man on man they will look a lot better. Right now, their biggest enemy is their HC and his strange reluctance to get that box 8 to back off. Then once the box 8 ceases, running lanes will be opened up and mid to deeper passes open up. Against a box 8, with no quick hitting dinks and dunks,, teams are going to continue to bedevil us with their box 8. Where's our HC and why hasn't he diagnosed and fixed this?

Why are we not getting leadership from our new veteran center Goodwin? Is he just playing himself in or is he simply not the player we thought we were getting?

After thinking about it, I think this O-line just needs more time together, benching Rachal may also help. But we have pretty much all the tools to help in this Zone Blocking scheme. At first I wanted to lay blame on Solari, hes got just as much if not more knowledge than just about anyone in the NFL when it comes to Zone Blocking, probably why he was kept on the staff. Two players that I was thinking of that didn't fit a ZB Scheme Iupati and A. Davis, bot hare overly big for ZB and would seem better in a MB Scheme. But then again, both Iupati and Davis can move pretty well for big guys I think they just need more time in the system. I'd also love to see A. Davis and Staley switch places, seems Staley does more Man-blocking than the rest of the O-line at times, but gets beat pretty bad by the bull-rush at times. Davis has good feet and strength for the left-side for speed-rushers, I don't feel the same way about Staley. I feel Staley would be better off with help from the TE and OG.
