If the FO and JS actually had a "Meeting", and Mr. smith said he still wasn't sure of his decision yet, then I gotta think that our FO would tell him "to take all the time he wants" to make his decision, so as not to force his hand and also to show good faith and respect for a great player on our team, ( maby)?

he can do what ever he wants,, and as i have said,, i bet the decision has been made, i bet both sides know it as well

Baalke the ninja knows…that he's coming back or else why wouldn't they have announced the retirement already? Reality is the longer he waits to announce the decision, the more offseason activities Justin can miss. Although he can still miss offseason work even if he announces he's back but would be less of a distraction by staying in the background as "retired." It is easier for niners FO to simply state no decision has been made which buys more time. It is not a distraction since niners have already stated they're preparing as if he's retired and would welcome him back if he returns (so no false hope).
It's been stated he's working out as if he's preparing for the season anyways (according to Matt Barrows on 95.7 the game)

Do you really think Justin Smith would leave his boy Tomsula hanging like that?

Why does it matter? It doesn't effect anything, the vets or rookies on our team are going to try and earn Justin's spot regardless

I feel like the longer it goes the more likely it is that he comes back. As we get closer to training camp that itch will be there for him to give it another go
Love the guy as a Player but its almost better if he hangs it up. save the cap space and sign a June 1st 3/4 DE Casualty. Justin is tired

I just need to know, I don't like being jerked around like this.

HOF player can take as long as he needs
Justin Smith is at the point where continuing to play could have long term health risks. He has to decide if that risk is worth it on a team not expected to compete for a championship.

I guess if someone convinces him we will be a Super Bowl contender this season he might come back for one final season. Otherwise he's going to retire while he's still healthy enough to run and play with his kids.

My 2 cents..,

Sigh.......

A MAN who has given every drop of effort and has earned the right to take time to decide.
