trent edwards?

honestly though i wouldnt mind going into season with 2 QB harbaugh said kaep was our #2 and id alex gets injured we can always roll with kaep and sign someone else later

i wouldnt mind giving that spot to an extra TE WR OL DB DE or LB
KARZON PALMERZ!!!!!!!!
idk mate
Not too many quality veterans were released. Possibilities might be Trent Edwards or Kellen Clemens. Although I'm not sure they would be any better than McCown. He really looked in control in that San Diego game (albeit against low level competition). He got rid of the ball quickly, showed mobility, and seemed to know where to go with the ball every time. If they decided to go after a released rookie, I would definitely consider Scott Tolzien of San Diego. He looked very good against us on Thursday; he's further along than Kaepernick at this point in his career.
Weren't we supposed to sign Daunte Culpepper
Jeff Garcia
Trade a late rd pick for Brady Quinn.

Who is out there that we could pick up? Is there anyone really? Its obvious the coaching staff gambled by letting Mccown hoping someone else would drop someone but it really didnt happen. The only person i could think of that is capable of a third stringer is Brodie Croyle.. He played one game for cardinals ( 10-16 for 100'sum yards)... maybe tolzein from the chargers.. I wish we could have gotten someone like Bartel from the Cardinals... Hes undrafted qb that is very promising.. I hope we could trade for him or something. I know its the preseason and games dont matter but this guy is playing good.. (37/54 68% comp 530yds 5td's 2ints)

Anyone else of not available?

When was the last time a "capable" 3rd QB made a difference in helping a team reach the playoffs? If we get down to 3rd string QB in an actual game we are doomed either way.

We will just sign someone after the damage is done and let them start

CHAMPIONSHIP!
Alex Smith is the #1, and Kaep is the definite #2 (regardless of preseason struggles); Harbaugh clearly isn't interested in signing a vet to interrupt his plans with resurrecting Alex Smith (and shifting Kaep into the mix towards the end of the season), cause Jim could have held a full-court press for Hasselbeck, MacNabb, Vince Young, or Billy Volek.

Heck, Culpepper probably turned us down because he knew we would have only used him as a 'liability' during preseason (with his ass getting cut by Sept. 2nd; regardless of Kaep's play).

Trying not to say it, but since Garcia left there hasn't been much fall off between our 1st string and 3rd string Qbs.
Probably gonna get Tolzien or Froman

I want Tolzien.. he was supposed to make the Chargers, not sure what happened there but if we aren't going with a vet and we do have 3 QBs I'd bet on a developmental guy
I think it will be Edwards.
