Does Braylon Edwards have more character than he is given credit for?

Now i'm no expert, just an ordinary fan. From what I've seen through interviews with Braylon he seems like a good guy. I mean when we picked him up and I started looking around for information everyone was telling me he was an ass hat and that he was going to be a problem off the field. Nobody is questioning his physical abilities, I don't think. He seems to have an intimate understanding of the game that he plays and is definitely confident in his abilities. Seems open to teach and help develop fellow receivers. I am really feeling confident about what he can bring to the team off the field in addition to his abilities on the field. What do you guys think as far as his character goes. Will his antics cause trouble this season or going forward?

I agree, I'm really liking his attitude. I wasn't sure what to expect when he first signed with the team, but I'm very pleasantly surprised with his character.
I'm not sure about the truth behind it but I heard that Harbaugh and Edwards father are friends from way back. If this were true I would assume that Harbaugh would have known Edwards from before the initial contact through free agency.
apparently it is true, I guess Harbaugh has known Edwards since childhood.
He has more character than CrabtreEXCUSE.

I think character issues are usually blown out of proportion by the media (see: T.O.)
Agreed bout the media at times^^^^^
great signing imo anxious for season and watch everything come together! Hopefully monday when gore n niners meet that will be resolved as well

Team Obliterator is a bad example, he really is a head case with clear abandonment issues, hence his desperate need to be the center of attention.
It's a good question that I hope can be answered here by someone who has followed BE closely.

Love the way BE is doing and saying everything right. Maybe he just needed to grow up and has now? I hope he has a big year and gets extended. We have been needing a WR like him since Owens, and I hope that he really has fully matured (that, as far as I know of him being the issue).
I have watched him a good bit, mostly due to fantasy football. He is a guy who is on that borderline right now, the next few years could really decide his legacy in the NFL. He has been involved in some troubling incidents because like many players he cant seem to leave that lifestyle behind. He is a team guy who does the right stuff on the field and with the other players, but his personal life away from the field gets him in trouble. He isnt a T.O. or Moss situation...but he is certainly at a point where he could end up either Plaxico ( someone whos career is ruined by his personal life) or a Ray Lewis ( who got in a lot of trouble early and learned how to over come it).
I was skeptical when we signed him, but so far he's looked good(its only the preseason, I know.) If he keeps it up, I say sign him long term and trade Crabtree, just my opinion though. I'm getting sick of Crabtree's attitude.

I say use some of the money under the cap and sign him to a 4 year deal, light on guaranteed money and extremeley heavy on performance based bonsus's. If he perfroms well, plays 75% of snaps, Niners make play offs, division titile, etc. pay the man like a #1 through incentives.

I like Edwards so much more than Crabtree. I think it is the few more years of maturity and being kicked around and humbled.

I am not giving up on Crabtree, Edwards and Crabtree could be the best 1 and 2 WR set the niners have had since Rice Taylor

Getting rid of Crabtree makes zero sense. How are you getting sick of his attitude? You have the locker next to him? Did he not sign an autograph for you? If so what does this have to do with playing football?

I get where he's coming from, but "sick of his attitude" is a bit strong. Fans just want to see him healthy and doing everything he can to prepare himself for the coming season. If his injury is legit, then we have to give some slack... but many suspect his injury is a ploy to allow him to be lazy. I am pleased to hear from Harbaugh that he is allegedly putting in the mental work at least. Well see what happens, but no one can truly say that he's been giving his all to the team since being drafted.
i.ve never noticed an attitude with crabtree, our coach thinks the world of this guy.
