Obviously, Vernon and Delanie aren't going anywhere so it's down to whether Reuland can take Nate Byham's spot on the depth chart. Byham's a better talented blocker and has pretty decent hands, while Konrad is faster and known to be a great pass catcher. I think with the playmaking ability of the first two TEs, the 49ers may opt to go with the solid blocker in Nate unless Konrad can improve that area.

Konrads draft profile actually reads a lot llike my draft crush Fleener. I am rooting for Reuland to improve his blocking and beat out Bynham. From what I read Bynam looked uncomfortable in his knee brace in the OTA, he could still be slowed from his injury. That being said, I want Reuland to earn the roster spot, not be the default 3rd TE.
Doesn't Nate Byham have practice squad eligibility? If Reuland does beat him out, I see us retaining both somehow.
Thanks for the post and all the info on him. Sounds great and a 3 TE 1WR set would be awesome.

If Moss turns out like everyone is hoping they'll have to double team him leaving VD & DWalker in single coverage.

I can't wait for the season to start.

Nates knee is NO longer an issue, running very comfortable on it,and no he is not eligible for the practice squad...and Nate can play the full back position if Miller goes down. for a short time.

I think he does
Niner dynasty-

do not know why your post had 3 of the same quotes, so I am simply replying.

The Niners are working Tukufua at FB. maybe they see him as the wham position Sopoaga played last year, maybe they see tukufua as one who can play FB in addition to DE??

This would make the better pass catching TE the choice in my book.
It all will show it self soon.

Team Nate
I think the only way he makes the roster is if he can block better than Byham...and play FB, and catch everything in sight. That's a tall order...it's possible, but not probable. With Vernon and Walker, they already have two top-catching receivers...Byham's forte is blocking, whether on the line or in the backfield. Keeping him at #3 avoids having to keep two FB's, in all likelihood.

Dont read too much into that with Tukuafu, they said last week was the "athlete portion" of OTA's... basically another way of evaluating players while keeping things fun and light.

Without quoting you three times Ill just point out that Rueland impressed in all areas last year excluding blocking, where it was reported he needed to get bigger and work on technique. So the fact the team went and grabbed Peele shouldnt be considered a slight against Rueland but more that with VD and DW, the team needed a blocking specialist after Byham went down and KR was just too green for the team to feel comfortable with him in that role. IMO Harbaalke will try to sneak Rueland back on the PS to cover for DW when he leaves as a free agent next year.

He does not. Byham was active for 14 games in 2010 which makes him ineligible.
