Scout Inc.'s Top 200 players - Vernon Davis the 7th rated Tight End?

Jermichael Finley is the most overrated player I have ever seen in any sport! He did nothing his rookie year, was decent in 09(nothing compared to Vernons 13 TD season), and got injured last year while Rodgers was still able to lead his team to the super bowl, How this guy is better then Vernon Davis is beyond me. NO RESPECT!
Without looking, I believe in a few yrs these players will among the top 200.

Aldon Smith, Ray McDonald

If ST was a option, I would put Lee, Akers and Jennings their right now.

I look at it as this, we have a core group. In no order. by Position

RB 21 Frank Gore- FA after 2011
TE 85 Vernon Davis- Signed thru 2015
TE 46 Delanie Walker- SIgned thru 2012
C 66 Jonathan Goodwin- Signed thru 2013
LG 77 Mike Iupati- Signed thru 2014
LT 74 Joe Staley- Signed thru 2017
DE 94 Justin Smith- Signed thru 2013
DE 91 Ray McDonald- Signed thru 2015
ILB 52 Patrick Willis- SIgned thru 2016
SS 31 Donte Whitner- Signed thru 2013
PK 2 David Akers- Signed thru 2013
P 4 Andy Lee- Signed thru 2012
LS 86 Brian Jennings- Signed thru 2014

In addition, I see 4 picks from this yrs class in the core, all signed thru 2014, OLB 99 Aldon Smith, QB 7 Colin Kaepernick, CB 29 Chris Culliver & RB 32 Kendall Hunter.

I am hoping 2 former 1st-round picks are in the group and pan out.

2009 1st rd WR 15 Michael Crabtree
2010 1st rd RT 76 Anthony Davis

Of course, My hope is Braylon Edwards & Carlos Rogers break out, and are hear long term.

Some guys Im not high on, Spencer, Snyder and Sopoaga.
The only guy ahead of him that I really disagree with is Gonzalez, who isn't the player he once was. I think VD and Finley are about equal, but I'd put VD ahead of him because Finley can't stay on the field.

Nice to see Justin Smith getting some love as well.

I agree. I would have VD above Gonzo and Daniels, and right their with Gates and Witten, Clark is good, and Finley is overrated.
With the exception of Owen Daniels, all the guys ahead of him are generally on high-profile teams: San Diego, Dallas, Green Bay, Indianapolis...

When that happens, guys don't get rated as highly as they should. It takes years of HIGH production for people to notice. For Vernon, he's only been producing high-level numbers for two years.

I seriously WTF at the notion that he has adequate blocking though. Vernon Davis is considered one of, if not THE, top blocking tight ends in the NFL.
they took all facets of the game into consideration, which is why VD was 7th. he always leads the NFL in drops, and penalties by non OL on the offensive side of the ball. hes a better blocker than they gave him credit for, but hes not an elite blocker or anything.

I have a problem with him being ranked behind Tony Gonzalez, whos a million years old. i dont think anyone in their right mind would still take Tony G over VD. Owen Daniels is really arguable also. VD is better all around. other than that theyre probably correct. id put him at 5 overall, because he can be a big detriment to his offense because of the drops and bonehead penalties.
They are clearly considering the QB throwing the ball to them, which will be Rivers, Romo, Schaub, Rodgers, Ryan and that guy from the Colts.......
Ughhhhhhh, the chronic overrating of Adrian Peterson and underrating of Gore drives me nuts. Peterson is BY FAR the most overrated player in football. Or if not, then the only guys that are close are Kolb and Finley. Vernon Davis may be the best tight end in football, but if he's not, he's certainly no worse than 2nd or 3rd. And Justin Smith has lost a step???? I wouldn't trade him for any other d-end in football and the best 3 years of his career have been the last 3. Yet he's lost a step??? Unbelievable...

Apparently they don't take injury into consideration

lol wes welker led the nfl in drops last season with 13, VD had 4 drops last season. And Jermichael finley has done nothing to deserve all the hype.
I also love how they call Vernon Davis an "adequate" blocker. He is FAR AND AWAY the best blocking tight end in the NFL and better than a lot of tackles. If he put on 50 pounds he would be a perennial pro-bowler at OT.
lmao, Smith has lost a step?

Ok thats why he had 8.5 sacks, which i believe is tied for his best season sack wise.

Lovely job once again Scouts Inc.

Well that's just, like, your opinion, man.

"Liam and me, we're gonna f**k you up".
He's like 1, 2 or 3. "Adequate blocker"... They haven't watched any 49ers games. Gonzalez got in on reputation alone to the Pro Bowl. Vernon had the much better year. He has several things going against him.

~ The 49ers suck.
~ They don't get televised often.
~ People don't notice he has improved his hands dramatically.
~ He plays with a questionable QB situation.
~ His O Line is/was so terrible he was kept in to block which dramaticaly kept his #'s down for years.

With a good QB and good O Line this guy is #1 in the league no questions asked. With Rivers and the Chargers line he's better than Gates IMO.
