yea i agree fmt. i hope we turn it around, we need special teams to at least be average... and please, no turnovers. that's the worst.

I'm not worried we have the best special teams coach in te game. I have confidence we will get these things fixed.

damn you just gave me flashbacks to arnaz vs. the texans a couple years back and the dreaded PR reverse against the seachickens with that turnover talk. ugh....

Having not seen the games, have the problems been happening early or late in the game?

I think in the preseason we play a lot of younger guys on special teams, even early in the games. Most of these guys aren't going to make the team, so I'm hoping that is the reason for poor special teams and we'll have a good unit come out in the wash.

This was my main concern over the o-line in game 1 and again last night. Seeley is an awesome special teams coach. He will get things corrected.

Agreed. From what I've read this was sort of expected due to the larger roster sizes it was believed that there would be little continuity on special teams early. I'm expecting things to tighten up as they settle on the final 53. Seely will get it done.

Most people would say they're concerned with our offense, but I think that will come in time. Our special teams right now is really the worst of the 3 units. In new orleans, we gave up a TD return and had multiple penalties. Against the raiders, we had a penalty on a nice punt return, andy lee bobbled a hold, we had a punt blocked and we gave up a long KR to the raiders. what is happening here? we have a lot of returning players on special teams and i just can't believe we are playing so poorly. say what you will about the nolan/singletary age, but we always had a pretty good special teams in regards to penalties and kick coverage.
hopefully time will correct these mistakes but it is very concerning. i don't want to have a decent offense, really good defense and then have special teams f**k us over. look at the chargers last year: #1 offense, #1 defense and a poor special teams cost them a playoff spot.

Naturally, if somebody returns for a TD in week 1, somebody on the WZ is going to ask to trade for him

i'm not too worried. i imagine there's a lot of guys getting trials on ST right now that won't make the team. Once we finalize the roster and the units are set I think it'll get more polished. But, like the team in general, its going to take us a few weeks into the regular season.

Exactly, Special Teams are the tryouts for 3rd stringers to still make the team and see where depth is kept when final cut downs happen.
