Kinda too early, but I am liking Hunter's running style more. Bring Dixon in on short yardage downs, and tell him to stop fu*king dancing before he hits the running lane.

Dixon is garbage and I hope he gets cut.
Hunter I still need more film on him but he's not a game breaker.

I'm excited about Hunter's potential and think he was a steal in the 4th. I like Dixon too though. Neither are ready for prime-time but there's no rush. We're setting up for a nice committee post-Gore.
Not sure why everyone hates Dixon so much all of a sudden. He dances too much, of course, but a second year player doing that on a night when the entire team was out of sync, under-prepared, and still getting into football rhythm really shouldn't inspire the kind of outrage it has amongst some of the fans.

It was the first preseason game. After 12 practices together. Jesus Christ, give it time people. He was great last preseason/season when we needed him. Let him get his legs under him and some steady blocking.

Based solely on the 1 PRESEASON game, i think Hunter looked better than Dixon.
Dixon played 14 snaps and carried the ball 7 times for 16 yards with one pass for -2 yards. He didnt have a lot of room to run, but he did seem to dance around in the backfield and seemed undecisive as to where to hit the hole at.
Hunter had 29 yards on 7 attempts including a 13 yard gain as he showed his speed turning off the left corner, he also seemed to do a good job in pass protection as well.
But it is still way to early to have a definitive answer here, but I am interested to see how Hunter will progress this season.

Way to early to tell...Yes Hunter had a better game, but thats because he's physically better suited against an all out blitz than Dixon is.

Too early, but hunter seems like he at least can find the hole.
I don't know if we want either want to be our back when gore gets hurt again.

Hunter gets upfield fast and Dixon dances and bounces. If they can get Dixon to be decisive he might improve. Really like Hunter a lot and would not be surprised if he becomes Gore's tag team buddy for some time. He's small enough to hide behind linemen or a lead FB.

I heard dixon came to camp like 10-15 pounds heavier, it obviously was NOT muscle. Dude is so slow and is horrible at finding holes. He looks like he runs into the line with his damn eyes closed.
I love hunter's style, I think he'll light it up against the raiders or texans(assuming our o-line doesn't collapse again) and win the #2 job over dixon. Maybe dixon does improve, he was a big preseason guy last year, but I hope hunter gets more carries and reps...

He'd better start running harder or he'll become the latest 49ers pre-season legend since Thomas Clayton.

Hope Dixon starts to play harder or he'll be done, Hunter is still raw IMO but I like the way he runs

I just don't like what Dixon did in the off season. Not sure if the coaches told him or if it was his idea to bulk up from 233 to 250 or so. If they wanted a short yardage back or FB type Dixon isn't it. He dances too much which isn't what you want in short yardage. I wish he would have went from 233 to 220-225 and got quicker. Hunter can probably beat him out real quick.

dixon needs to be around 230, not 250...
