Ah! That's a new strategy! Block Rachal into people so he at least makes some contribution.

I wish fellow zoners would have more realistic expectations of this team. It seems a lot of people get all excited thinking "this is the year." Harbaugh while doing a great job at Stanford in no time flat needs to adjust to the pro game and learn the players. The players need to learn a new system. The overall talent level on this team isn't the greatest. The QB position the most important on the team has been a sore spot since Garcia left. This is a rebuild, there isn't anything wrong with tearing down and starting over, it isn't like last year's team was two players away from being a contender.
In my opinion, the worst OL last night was not Davis, nor Chilio, but it was Staley.

Staley was f**king up big time out there, whether it was against the Saints starters or their backups.

This guy is getting paid top dollar. He better get his s**t together.
I seem to always have my expectations set a little too high. The coaches were just as surprized as the OL at the pressure they recieved in the 1st pre-season game. I expected Snyder to struggle perhaps but not Staley , Davis , and Chilo , ok maybe Chilo I did expect. I was hoping to see the arrow facing up a bit more than this , but it is pre-season and it's gonna take some time without the coaches being involved in the OTA's. I didn't like seeing all of those penalties either. There is a lot of game tape to motivate the offense to improve. The 1st team defense was a nice surprize so far. I am much calmer today than I was last night , just glad that I didn't come on here last evening when I was more emotional about what I had just seen. Kap sure can run.

Arrow up next week and I will be feeling better.
I don't like to have to keep pointing this out, but have any of you ever watched these practice games before? Throwing blitz after blitz at a team during the first preseason game is basically unprecedented. I don't remember EVER seeing that happen before. And, this year, coming off of a lock out, with less than two weeks of practice, it's an outrageous slap in the face. I would guess that no NFL team with new coaches and new schemes has even gotten around to practicing blitz protection schemes. My suspicion is that NFL people around the league are shaking their heads about what Peyton and Williams pulled last night right after the league made a big show of protecting players, especially QB's, from injury. And, my prediction is that more than a few teams are going to be looking at a big target on the back of Drew Brees' jersey come regular season. Payback is a b***h.

Patrick and Aldon will crush drew brees into dust the next time we play them

We threw blitzes at Aaron Rodgers like a mothaf**ka a few years ago in preseason (Nolan Era)

I just wish that I could reasonably expect us to get that opportunity in the playoffs for Willis , Bowman and others to turn the table on Bree's ourselves ....... oh well.
It was ugly for sure, and that is the way it is going to be the first half of the year. The team flipped a lot of players, did not sign anyone who is a game changer, and is running a new offensive system with a new team of coaches. The Niners are headed for last place in the NFC West, and it may not even be close.
This game against the Raiders aint no preseason game....

Agreed. I've been waiting for this guy to take the next step and it just hasn't happened. If anything I feel he has regressed.
