There is no mention of this cut on the 49ers web page.

Yeah, there seems to be some confusion on this because the NFL site has it listed:
http://www.nfl.com/teams/sanfrancisco49ers/transactions?team=SF
8/11 Scott McKillop cut.
8/10 Chris Blohm cut.
8/8 Dashon Goldson re-signed/unrestricted free agent (one-year contract).
8/8 Chris Blohm signed (three-year contract). 8/7 Dontavia Bogan Placed on IR (torn right acl).
8/8 Curtis Holcomb Placed on IR (ruptured achilles tendon).

I'm sure it'll be clarified one way or the other.

Strange that they cut him. Even if Grant is doing fantastic, shouldn't you keep guys around in case of injuries? If it's true, wish him well.

Figures...

I thought he would at least be an asset on special teams

McKillop was a McLoughlan pick.

Figures you wouldn't know what you're talking about.

Must be a case where they just like Grant and Kristick better and they're giving him a chance to make an impression elsewhere. McCloughan has probably already wired him a Southwest boarding pass to Sea-Tac.

Even before his injury, there were reports that the coaches were not pleased with his development. Of course that may say as much about the coaches as the players but...

So when WAS you a 49er fan?

So can we please stop saying that McCloughan was a good judge of personnel? 2009 was one of the worst (drinking) drafts ever for the 49ers:

Michael Crabtree WR Texas Tech
Scott McKillop ILB Pittsburgh
Nate Davis QB Ball State
Bear Pascoe TE Fresno State
Curtis Taylor S LSU
Ricky Jean-Francois DT LSU

This is why the 49ers have to rely on free-agents because McCloughan and then the horrible coaching staff never developed guys who significantly contribute to the starting line-up. Look at this mess!! The only redeeming pick at this point is RJF and he's a depth player.

Wow. Just wow.
Why are you adding RJF? The guy was a 5th round pick (normally fodder or depth) and he may be the answer at NT. If not, he is definitly a good rotation guy.

To that point, Taylor and Pascoe are very late picks. Those are shots in the dark.

The real head scratcher are all the bs 3rd round picks, starting with Brandon Williams.
Now the seahawks are going to sign him for playbook info
I actually kind of liked him... to bad the kid got hurt.

RJF is a 7th rounder, i think he can be a solid role player with coaching

He was a 7th who will be a good role player. so out of the draft only one of those players is a starter (eventhough he shouldnt be) cashtree?
