Who is going to have the better stats this year?

And someone please explain to Memphis and other stans that its completely unreasonable to compare someone with 6 years experience to someone who has had a handful of starts.

Kolb threw for 300+ yards in his first 2 career starts. ALex has done that once in his 6 year career.

LOL at people saying "ALex had a better QB rating than Kolb last year, hes better."

What a joke.

What is a joke is that you are going to totally ignore the huge discrepancy in talent, in players and in coaching, and try to make a comparison of the players. That is a joke for you, weak ass argument.

So when Kolb lights it up this year, are you going to say...."well he did have one of the best WRs in the game he was throwing to," or "well the Cardinals were down most of the games so he got to throw the ball more often."

Where and when will it end?

People will continue to ignore this and if they don't realize how HUGE of an impact this has on a player then they have very little knowledge of football. Kolb got to sit and watch McNabb in a SYSTEM that was there for many years. How hard is it to understand this? If a SYSTEM has been there for awhile, every person on the field should be on the same page because they've been doing it for awhile. Now on the other hand we have the 9ers where no one is familiar with anything. I would rather plug in a QB where everyone knows the SYSTEM rather than throw someone into chaos where everyone is still trying to figure out their roles. Is that hard to comprehend?

If memory serves me right, Arizona only has 1 Offensive Lineman returning from last year and you think Kolb is going to light it up this year???

I think he is going to get lit up more than you know with their OL...

Also, you may wish to take into consideration the Andy [pass happy] Reid factor, remember A J feeley???

If he lights it up this year, I am going to go buy the niners some kryptonite because the state of the cards oline is such that I do not expect Kolb to last the whole year, if he does, it will be because he is the man of steel.

Let's flip the script, what are you going to say to discount Smith if he has a good year?

It ends here, trying to have a reasonable debate with unreasonable posters is the definition of insanity. neither of us is going to change our minds because of what we post here, so this is a waste of our time.

Have a good one brother, just because we don't agree on this one subject doesn't mean I don't respect you as a fellow Faithful, same for TJ.

Kevin Kolb has never had better numbers than Alex Smith. hes 3-4 as a starter with 11 TD's and 14 picks. nearly HALF of his career passing yds came in his first 2 starts.

Did i totally miss the Super Bowl season Kevin Kolb led the Eagles to? was he like an All-Pro QB when i wasnt looking?

Dudes done NOTHING. hes proven nothing. and now hes going to a crappy team, and everyone acts like were doomed.

I will absolutely give credit where credit is due. ALex has been impressive in what he has done this offseason and training camp. I will give him that. I hope it translates on the field.

Unlike other Niner fans who are rooting for ALex to fail, I am not. If ALex starts looking like an NFL quarterback, I will dust off my #11 jersey that is in the back of my closet, and put it back into my rotation of jerseys I wear to our homegames.

Im just tired of hearing "this is his year." I want to see the results!

Go Niners.
Kolb will but his #s wont be all that. Smith wont play long before his true colors show. Kaepernick will end up having better #s than both of them

Played the eventual Super Bowl champs twice, and like I've mentioned 10x before the Cowboys game was completely irrelvant.

Anyways 7 starts just isn't enough properly grade him. He's had 3 100 rating games, 3 300 yard games in those 7 starts so the potential is obviously there.
1) I'm an Alex Smith Defender

2) I think the Cardinals hugely overpaid for Kolb

I still vote Kolb.
Kolb has tons of potential and may end up being a very very good QB he showed flashes last year, he is already equal to Alex right now so with consistent starts he just have better numbers than Smith

This is actually not a bad question. It really will depend on which QB picks up their respective systems faster. So far, Alex has the edge on his "system" BUT...he's slower to get things rolling when live bullets fly. If Alex gets it going early on in the season then he could edge out Kolb....if not then Kolb because either a) he's better b) he's still starting c) Fitzgerald.

Either way you look at it...both guys HAVE TO start fast. I know with us at least...we simply can't afford a s**tty start like last year. If we are anything less than 3-3 by the bye....then we need to yank Alex.

we also have to remember Andy Reid coached Kolb for 3 seasons so he likely can adapt pretty quickly and faster than Smith because of the pro system he's played in. And lets be honest unless Smith is hurt he's gonna be starting every game.

I think Smith certainly has the ability to start every game but you're right let's be honest...Smith's track record isn't exactly outstanding...legit reasons or not.

If we're worse than 3-3 at the bye...I seriously doubt Smith starts another game.

0-6 = Jed sells the team & Alex Smith's house is mobbed by pitchfork toting fans
1-5 = Benched for sure
2-4 = "We Want Kap!"
3-3 = Cont to start but wont be back w/o dramatic reversal.
4-2 = I'll believe again
5-1 = Possible extension
6-0 = Fly15 and Susweel will by a Smith jersey

I love this last line. They would both choke on their own vomit before either bought a Smith Jersey.
Who cares about Kevin Kolb !!!! The guy has yet to prove anything just like Alex !!! The guy went 3-4 with more pics than td's while playing for a playoff team !!!
mih - Kolb is playing behind a line that is nowhere nears as good a the Eagles line.
