Patrick Willis and Crabtree grew up as Cowboys fan. I'm sure they grew up hating the Niners too. Had he said something like, he'd be the first RB to gain 100 yards on Niners in almost 2 seasons - yea, that'll get Willis and Bowman more fired up, but this comment is hardly anything.

...and Willis and co. don't need extra fuel. They will punish the ball carrier with full force.

I think the Lions for all their brag are the ones to be fearful because I think 3 or 4 guys will be bunged up. Like Stafford , Best and possibly Johnson for varied reasons. First off, our pass rush is awesome and we can match Detroit man for man on defense if we wanted to and moreso. Stafford is a dead duck if their OL does not play their game of their lives and I think Best will go out feet first after a few hits. As for Johnson, as stated the niners will probably keep two guys on him and high passes can be killers if guys like Reggie Smith and Goldson cut you in two while in the air. A few times getting blasted will cure Johnson's wishes for high passes. That is his main advantage and it really does expose him to thumpers. I think it will be one guy going for the ball and the second tackling thru Johnson. With Rogers, Brown, Spencer an Culliver plus the safeties they have the people to handle the Lions. I don't think they have faced any team like the niners defensively. If the Lions defensive line does pressure, I think they will do as they did in Cincy, just go quick and chop them up with short passes, screens and passes to the backs. With the backs and tight ends and with using extra knuckle dragger types to crumple up guys like Suh, I believe they can work around any guy like Suh. He is just nasty, not impressive as is Aldon Smith. IMO McCoy was just as impressive as Suh. Even if Suh is twice as good as he thinks, what happens if we run unbalanced lines away from him or towards him. I think we can run against the Lions and I think Cincy had a much better overall defense and especially the linebackers and we still beat them. Alex Smith has done well but I think the defense has given Alex a lot of runs at scores and ended many drives at three points or turnovers. Because of the speed of our middlebackers it is as if we have two OLB on outside runs. Frankly, I don't see Best being in the same class as Reggie Bush or CJ. He is sub CJ Spiller. My feeling is the lions get defurred and wind up stuffed and mounted at 4949 centennial. Forte ran them silly and the niners are getting their blocking straightened out and if Forte can run outside,I think Gore and Hunter can do it better. I really believe the OL and DL of the niners is being underestimated and is the reason for a lot of their success and I don't think realizing that will help teams this year. I think it will take teams a few years to draft quality to match them. Even as good as Cincy seems, IMO the niners defense is more then a step better and much deeper.
