Penalties are still hurting us. We need to have a clean game Sunday. We had some early in the Eagles game.

Where are we ranked in terms of penalties?

26th with 30 penalties and the Bucs are 24th with 29 penalties
Two penalty prone teams this Sunday.

We should have a cleaner game on Sunday and probably be better on the turnover ratio (since we're much better on the T/O ratio overall - plus 8 versus plus 1).

Tampa's defense is a lot better than the eagles, they may not be the dream team in name, but they are like the niners, workman like. Eagles had one of the worst run defenses in the league.

And if you don't take their running off. seriously and they get decent enough runs, the play action will work. So obviously we need to contain their run game and make Freeman see some starts early.

At least were not like the Raiders

Poor guys have been the most penalized team for like the past 10 years

This game is gonna fall on Alex Smith's dainty shoulders. The Bucs are gonna focus on stopping the run. So Harbaugh is gonna have to let Alex sling it for us to get a win.
Hmm...

As one Falcons fan told us on the Unofficial Tampa Bay Buccaneers Bulletin Board (UTBBBB), his fellow fans on FalconsLife are too optimistic, glass-is-half-full, and on our boards we are too pessimistic, glass-is-half-empty. Yes, I signed up at the beginning of the season because I wanted to post your website on the first week's installment of our Predict The Score series, and if my fellow Bucs fans didn't follow my advice at the time and sign up, they deserve to not be able to post here this week. I'd have used the official niners boards for that but somehow in spite of the fact that I don't smack (generally), their mods decided I was not worthy to join their forums, never mind what their welcome message says. So I already like you guys better than those clowns, then again I don't like the clowns at Buccaneers.com either so what can I say.

That said, your fanbase on this site seems to be a very lively bunch, maybe not so much as the Eagles who went into spasms when we showed them the Lombardi we got by taking THEM out in the NFC championship game (I know, your collection is a LOT more impressive). I really liked it when one of their crusty old vets took offense when I called their smack weak, and he suggested I jump into a volcano.

But I digress. The Josh Freeman we've seen this season is far inferior to the one that played last year like his life depended on it. Opposing defenses knew our very offensive offensive coordinator likes to throw dinks and dunks even though we have some decent young receivers (wouldn't know it from last night), so they left the short routes open. But he's very hard to get down, very mobile when he wants to be, and he makes some of his best plays when he's under pressure. Our running game is pretty bad, because our offensive linemen don't run-block well (they're not great at pass-blocking either but Free scrambles well so you don't notice that so much).

Your job on Sunday will be to take advantage of the Bucs early, when they always play bad ball, so that like the Detroit game when Free and the O finally wake up, we can't quite catch up. Can you do it? I dunno, the Bucs I've seen this year, minus the defensive line and the new punter, are worse than the Bucs of last year, but if they play to their potential, they're better than you. That goes both ways of course, I think the team that shows up with their A-game wins this thing.

For the record, I predicted a 27-20 Bucs win. But I'm a Tampa Bay fan, why would I predict a loss? If it happens I don't want to think I helped jinx my own team.

Oh yeah, no injuries, the Colts lost a darn good player for the season last night, I'd rather that sort of thing didn't happen, and hope it doesn't next Sunday.

As weird as it sounds, he will be the difference this year and from last year's Troy Smith exposure game.
We have a better run defense than the Colts, light years better. Blount won't run for 120 on us. Maybe 70 on 20 carries. Put the ball in Freeman's hands and I like our chances.
Alex plays a solid game, 0 to 1 turnovers and Gore Hunter run good we are fine.

we have one of the worst pass defenses in the league. He'll easily pick us apart if there is no pressure.

just say no to the 3 man rush!
