Freeman is a much lesser version of Vick, as for Blount, we'll just punch him in the mouth like he's famous for, our Run D will shut them down. We have a better chance beating the Bucs than the Lions. I see us going 1-1 in the next two games, Lions may be too tough to beat and it's an away game for us.
I'm plenty confident we'll stuff their run game too. They'll have to pass to beat us. And I'm more confident in beating the Bucs than the Lions.

BUT

The Lions have had to come from behind twice after being down by more than 20 points so they can be scored against. Again it'll be the defense that keeps us in the game but our running game that wins it. It's very possible we could go into the buy week with a 5-1 record.

Agreed, 5-1 is more than most of us could've asked for. Winnable game, but unsure which Alex Smith will show up in Detroit as well as which O-Line shows up, too.

There's only been one Alex Smith all year and that's the 8th ranked QB in the league.

With only 1 INT and 1 Fumble lost...that's the AS I pray shows up. He's due for a bad game, hoping it's not anytime soon.

Harbaugh has been excellent on the game plan and plays called. A lot of Alex's success has been due to play design. Harbaugh knows exactly where the weakness of a defense is and what will work. All Smith needs to do is find the receiver. He hasn't been required to make too many plays on his own so far. For the most part, his first reads have been open.
Yep. People think our offense was opened up but in reality the same type of plays were called Alex was just taking shots and having check downs go for some good yards. This will be a tough ass game and it's prime for a huge let down on us. We gotta see if Harbaugh has this team ready. They better forget that Philly win.

winning makes you soft. we'll see if he's right.
Everybody is all scared, because the Bucs barely beat Curtis Painter at home.

We had a great game against the Eagles. It's a W, and that's what counts in the end.

To be fair, the Eagles did blow up some good opportunities to secure the game. No one will remember all this (except the Eagles) in a week or two. The 49ers have to play well all 60mins, or 4 quarters or whatever.
I watched the Bucs last night, and they do seem like a team on the rise. They have a good QB, and I think will only get better. Maybe the short week and the time difference will help the 49ers (plus home game), but it will be a tough fight.

Thought I'll never say this, but the Lions game might be tougher.

To add to that, he also has shown the ability and will to go through progressions when pass protections don't get blown up too quickly. I agree though, if he likes what his first read shows, he usually gets it out quickly... 1-2-3- seconds and ball is out. Occasionally, perhaps... throws more quickly than he should, instead of looking for that deeper target. But that has not been often... not often enough to warrant a complaint over.

You guys keep underselling the Bucs. I live down here. I get to see all of their games, at least the ones not blacked out. That's a good football team. "Good" by today's standards.

If I had to compare Freeman as a player it would be Roethlisberger as far as arm and ability to extend the play. The Bucs are very physical on both sides of the ball. Not saying this is a loss, but that they present a different challenge from the teams the 49ers have faced thus far.

I agree. I think this will be a tough game. If anyone doubts that, think back to last year. Yeah, Singletary was the coach, but we were able to score on other teams with him leading us. It was a solid effort by a young 10 win team that blanked us. They've had another year to mature too. I'm not sure we win this game despite it being at home and a short week for them.

I really think we're in trouble if we start slow like the last 4 games this year.
They have been starting off games slow as well this year. They have 10 points total in the first half in the last 3 games. They are a solid team and I doubt the niners are looking passed these guys like some of us fans may be doing.

Last year when they played us It was Troy Smiths 3rd game so there was tape on him and it turns out he was a pretty horrible QB and that game was the start of that and the Bucs were the first team to expose that

We held them in check pretty good for that game. We just couldnt muster up any offense. I think both teams are very similar and I think it will be a close game.

agreed. It's going to be a tough physical game. Blount will take it to our run defense. Also I know that the offense probably wont start as hot as we ended last week. The offense really wasn't opened up Alex just didn't check down as much and when he did Hunter or someone would get him some yards out of it. It will be tough.

I'm more interested in the Bucs Defense. We know what their offense will do which is chip away and try and get a lot of 3rd and shorts to truck it for the chains and playaction off that for some chunks here and there.

How is their Defense? They seemed to play IND very aggressive and a lot of man-to-man but went to cover 2 on 3rd downs.

Can anyone evaluate their DL, LBs, and DB's?

I want to believe the stats but they appear to play very sound and stats can be deceiving in that case.

OFF:
17th in passing yards per game: 235.8 with 3TD and 4INTs
11th in rushing yards per game: 117 with a 4.4 avg and 5 TDs

DEF:
21st in passing yards per game: 267 with 6TDs and 2INTS allowing a 92 rating
11th in rushing yards per game: 101 with a 4.0 avg

Turnovers: +1

They are just a damn solid team.
Wow! So peeps can't be excited? They can't go in rooting for our team to win? Let them eat their cake, it's been a long time. So what is they are delusional?

We match up very well with them especially in the run game. I really like our chances to make them one dimensional. I don't expect Blount to go off, but I expect him to be a load to take down regardless, lot harder than bringing McCoy down. I see them going to the air to match what Vick did to us. Our D is very, very tough in the Red-Zone and I don't expect that to change. Sure, they may get the yards like Vick against our secondary between the 20s. That's where we clamp down and we've done it consistently this season.

It's our offense. Will it be the one in the first or second half of the Philly game??? I expect a lil' of both. And peeps need to read better 'cause we DID NOT OPEN THE OFFENSE UP. Geez. They made a few more throws than in the first half, but it was basically the same plan being executed better.

Where I really see this match up getting me worried is a close game heading into the fourth quarter as Freeman likes to save his best for last. Since they are traveling across country in a short week, I believe we will have the better stamina in the fourth and our OL can be more effective against a worn DL. That's why we have to have a successful running attack in the first half.

This is NO easy win at all. We will have to earn it like the rest of them.

I just like our chances on most of the matchups this weekend, that's all.

Still, I predict a win. Why? Cause it's my team, damn it!!!!

4-1 here we come!!!!

we're all excited. But to write them off is not a good idear. They're a strong, young team.
