If given time, Smith be decent.

I've never been a huge fan of Smith but based on what I've seen from the last 3 pre season games, he will be effective if the OL can buy him 3-4 seconds.

No matter who the QB is, if he gets less than 3 seconds to read the defense and throw the ball, he will either take a sack, or throw the ball away, or throw an interception. There is no QB who can make throws with constant pressure with 4 defensive lineman rushing the passer which is what we saw today...

Our OL is running out of time to improve fast. I will bet you a thousand dollars that the Seahawks are going to do the same s**t the Saints and the Texans did against us.

If we lost 30-20 or 30-14 even...it would be one thing...ESPECIALLY if our 1st team Offense vs their 1st team defense was 7-0 or 7-3 or tied...I could live with that. But this is just garbage.

You are all absolutely right in that preseason W/L don't mean s**t. But individual performances and how things generally "look" is important and thus far it's been disappointing across the board. Other than Kendall Hunter there have been no standouts. Sure Alex has "improved" but we have very little sample size to really judge him. Kap's a rookie so it doesn't really matter. Reps gonna be reps. And then there is the o-line which looks like they've REGRESSED! I think that's what's MOST troubling. We simply don't even look competitive.

Again...I know it's "only" preseason but you still gotta be able to LOOK LIKE you can hang with the big boys.

agree, wtf happened to the type of ball movement we saw vs the Raiders atleast?

Someone needs to put up pictures of gifs of him dropping back and getting sacked. I just finally watched the game and...wow...seriously....step 1,2,3, hitch, SACK...or step, 1,2,3, SACK.

He couldn't even step into throws. Then you have idiot fans booing. LOL...it's like one big cluster f**k.

I'm seriously getting tired of these idiot fans who boo Alex when it is seriously not his fault. Maybe they were booing the entire team or OL in particular... who knows. But knowing where these boos have been directed to in the past, I know they were probably targeted towards Smith.

I'm not gonna lie, I felt bad for Smith. I've never been a huge fan of #11 but I've always admired/respected him for being a team player and never blaming other players or coaches. He is a classy dude and I feel like it is unfair when a group of idiotic fans boo him when he is getting sacked less than 3 seconds after dropping back.

Fixing OL is going to decide whether this team wins games or loses them. I hope this is the #1 priority in Harbaugh's mind and he does address them before we play the Seahawks in week 1.

I honestly think Harbaugh f**ked up with this rotation. It's cool...whatever...rookie HC mistake. He learned the hard way and thankfully no one got hurt as a result. We're not an established team thats had the same offense year after year. We can't afford the luxury of being cute and creative with rotations IMO. Just get the 1st team as MANY reps as possible. I don't care if Alex has to throw 4 f**king picks to get timing down...just let him learn. When Alex initially came out...he was 2/3 for 17 yards. Wow...really? 3 passes? That's a warm up. Then of course he goes back in and goes 0/2 or 0/3 with an INT. Same with Kap. I don't think the QBs would admit openly...that they were frustrated with the process but here's Alex's quote...

Q: You don’t usually show a lot of emotions, but after getting hit two times you were frustrated. Why?

ALEX SMITH: Well, you know, you go back out there, you know, coach told me to potentially get out in some 2-minute situations, that I was going to go back in, and to go back out there, I wanted to get in a rhythm. It was frustrating. I felt like at that time it’s just tough getting the ball out. But, you know, it’s just what happens in a game. It’s an emotional game. A lot of us are playing for our football lives at this point.

4 different announcers/commentators said the exact same thing re: Alex or ANY of our QBs getting ZERO time. Their main point: "He can't even finish his drop back or step into his throws....the offense cannot move when that's happening."

People just don't understand this. The QB's #1 job isn't to evade the rush...it's to make sure the ball gets from point A (his hands) to point B (the WR hands). But guess what? The o-lines ONLY job when blocking...is to PROTECT THE QB.

I find it funny that people will go to great lengths to dissect Kaps or Smith's performance and spout s**t like, "oh but look at how he slides in the pocket...he should do it this way instead....he doesn't 'feel' the rush...he needs to maintain poise..." LOL okay...yeah let's just forget the FIRST part of the equation where Staley or someone else just completely acted like a revolving door.
if we look like this against the seahawks....then i'll panic

I think if Smith gets the opportunity to actually hit his hitch step, he can carve up the seacocks. the oline has seriously got to get their s**t together in two weeks.

If we look this bad against the Seahawks. Then the Season is over before it has officially begun. They have no reason to lose against the Seahawks IMO.

The biggest problem I see with this game and for many years now is that outside of a few draft picks like Gore, Davis and Willis with Iupati slowly coming on as a solid player, this team has ZERO home grown/drafted talent. Hope it changes with the latest crop of picks. Signing some FA's who are barely good enough to be bench players on a good team to be starters on this team is not helping either. But in Harbaugh I trust.

Ray Mac? Staley? Morgan is productive, Walker?
