For the money, i am glad he's back. Was ready to see him walk, with the money he wanted and all. Dude is worth 2 million easy if he's healthy.

We signed Williams to be the backup FS for 1 mil and Goldson is better than him. 1.8 million isn' too bad especially if he starts at all this season. Reggie Smith is about equal, maybe a little better than Goldson but he has a history of injuries. Williams could be cut and just reading what Vikings fans think of him they where glad he is gone. Good guy, bad player.

P.S. This also means if Whitner would get hurt (knock on wood) then we would have Goldson to come in at FS and Reggie at SS. We would be covered if either of the starters gets hurt.

Dashon and Whitner aren't the best cover safeties though... I'm not sure they improve our secondary as a tandem... that is why Reggie Smith was going to be FS.

Oh well, I guess Smith's injury is worse than expected.

I agree way too many Safeties, I wish we could turn some of these safeties into Defensive Linemand we could use some depth there at End and Nose.

Goldson sign yet? Needs to get his ass back in practice. A bunch of starters are missing reps.

Goldson had his best year at FS in 2009 and is probably a better all-around FS than SS. I like the combination of him and Donte Whitner at safety. Two physical safeties who can run, hit and tackle (though Goldson's tackling was pretty bad last year). Both guys in pass coverage are average at best. I also like Reggie Smith as our 5th DB as he can play the slot corner position with his speed and range.


All of a sudden, I like our secondary. If this kid Chris Culver pans out and Tremaine Brock can develop into a solid nickel corner than I really like our secondary.

this. hes got good size, hes physical and he made things happen in his limited amount of playing time last year. hes worth developing

I think we gotta cut Brown ans Mays.

I think we cut Spillman and Williams. Actually keep Mays for trade bait if another team has an 'Adrian Wilson' injury. Definitely keep Adams and Brown as we don't have too many CBs as it is.

The coaching staff is very high on Spillman. He's a beast on ST and the coaching staff wants to give him a bigger role this year on D. I find it hard to believe we only keep 4 CB's. We might even keep 6 CB's and 5 safety's.

you guys are forgetting Colin Jones, Curtis Taylor, and Chris Maragos too.

we have a s**t ton of DBs, and its hard to tell, right now, where they really rank on the team.

I think a trade is coming....maybe Mays and another DB + a pick for Samuel or possibly a RG???

hmmmm, that would be an intriuging trade..

I've read that the Eagles won't give up Samuel for anything less than a 1st round pick.

If there is a trade, it would probably be something along the lines of Mays for a 6th round pick. Otherwise I think we'll see a lot of guys simply cut, some moved to the PS, and others gone for good.

weren't the Eagles saying that about Kolb also? the facts are the Eagles have a $hit ton of $ tied up in CBs and Samuel is the oldest and makes big money he's gone for the right trade.

sadly i think the team will probably end up trading Mays for a late round pick. Cutting a few guys and keeping some on the PS like you said. Man it would be great if we could get 1 more big move.
