Braylon Edwards, Vernon Davis, Michael Crabtree, Frank Gore. A decent QB can win with this team. We should all be very excited.

ok some concrete info.
Costanzo got a 1yr deal worth $700K.
Grant and Applewhite got 1yr 600K deals.
Alex Smith indeed got a 1yr 5M deal, but only 1M appears guaranteed, as he has a 4M Base Salary.
Braylon as reported has a 1M Base Salary, with 2.5M in incentives
Wragge got a 1yr 810K deal
Rogers signed a 1yr deal worth 2.212.500M. No bonuses were reported. It could include minimal bonuses, maybe a roster bonus for each game, like 25K per game he is on the team.
Madieu Williams received a 1yr 1M deal, an 810K Base is in the NFLPA database, so I suspect he has a 190K Roster Bonus, broken into 11,875K over 16 weeks for being on roster/team.
now the long deals.
McDonald indeed got 7M guaranteed.
The database only goes up to 2014, as he signed thru 2015.
So, either 1 of these 3 possibilities.
1. He received a 5M Signing Bonus(1M A yr in pro-ration), a 2M Roster Bonus in 2011.
2. A 5M Bonus like option 1, 1M Roster in 2011 and 2012.
3. 5M Bonus like mentioned, and 2M of his base salaries are guaranteed.
his base salary for 2011 is 1M. I have him at a 4M Cap Hit for 2011.
And finally Akers.
9M Deal. Only a 1.7M Signing Bonus, over 3yrs.
His cap numbers are about 1.87M for 2011, and then 3.6M for 2012 and 2013.
Goodwin and Whitner are not in the database yet.

Great work as always, AB... This really illustrates that Baalke and Marathe do indeed know what they are doing.

Wasn't there some kind of new rule in the CBA that all teams have to spend a certain amount? Do we still have to spend some money? I mean we should regardless with 15M left.

ok, another update.
As of now and before factoring in estimates on Whitner and Goodwin, we have 17M left.
Now the way I see it is this;
Goowin got 4M Guaranteed, likely a 3M Bonus and a 1M Roster Bonus. So that leaves 6.9M left in base salaries.
My guess is he got a 1M in 2011, so his salary in 2011 is 3M, then in 2012 he would have a 3.4M and 4.5M in 2013. His base would be 2.4M(2012) and 3.5M(2013)
That adds up to the 10.9 reported.
Now Whitner;
Got a 11.75M deal, 4 of it is Guaranteed. I suspect like Goodwin, a 1M Roster and 1M in signing in 2011, 1M each in 2012 and 2013 like Goodwin.
so I estimate a 1M Base in 2011, 2.875M in 2012 and 3.875M in 2013
Making his salaries;
3M(2011), 3.875M(2012) and 4.875M(2013)
That equals = 11.75M
While Goodwin is;
3M(2011), 3.4M(2012) & 4.5M(2013)
equaling = 10.9M
So, basically, we had 17M, minus 5.25M(Since they bump 2 players off the top 51 rule at 375K each).
we have 11.75M left.

Hmm... seems like a pretty good cushion with 11.75 million. I wonder if we make a play for a big trade. Anyone know what the trade deadline is and whether or not the new CBA changed it?

ok, just calculated in my spreadsheet.
We would have, if my numbers are close/correct, 12.6M left.
The 2 players bumped had 450K Salaries and not the 375K i had thought.
Also for the time being I will count the 2.5M for Braylon as salary to his 1M Base.
So schefty said 16M for the 6.
lets see
Goodwin, 3M
Whitner, 3M
Rogers, 2.125M (Had his wrong, I remembered wrongly)
Williams, 1M
Akers, 1.87M
Braylon, 3.5M
That equals = 14.495M (A difference of 1.505M, which could actually be for Rogers as a bonus of some sorts that I dont know yet).
Now include the following contracts also signed.
Costanzo, 700K
Alex, 5M
McDonald, 4M
Grant, 600K
Applewhite, 600K
Wragge, 810K
Those equal to 11.71M
So we have spent 26.205M in 2011 cap space on 12 players. Compared to spending half on say Nnamdi or Nate Clements.
I think we have done good cap management.
Now 2012.
we have 63 players signed for 2012. At 90.7M in salaries, No dead space that Im aware of.
Of those 63, 25 make a minimum of $465K, equaling 11.625M, and I only see 5 of them on the 2011 roster, Ian Williams, Konrad Reuland, Jack Corcoran, Jeremiah Masoli and Dontavia Bogan(IR). The rest are PS guys or cuts.
If we keep those 5, then we can shave off, 9.3M off the 90.7M salaries.
Bringing our salaries to 81.4M.
It could change is we extend Gore. And of course our FAs like Alex, Braylon, Rogers, Snyder, Morgan, R.Smith, etc.....
And the only vet I can see gone this yr is Norris, but he isnt under contract for 2012. So no worries on their.
If the cap is at 130M ish, we would have 48.6M going into 2012 off-season to toy with.
Take about 8M(Guessing, will depend on size of class drafted, I.E. Number of picks, and rounds) off, and we have over 40M to spend.
We could extend Braylon, bring back Alex is he improves, Morgan and R.Smith would be cheap, and we could decide on Snyder and Rogers, depended on their 2011 play.
Gore would to me be Priority 1 if not already re-signed. If so, comes Braylon.

In years past it has been around week 7 i think, so mis october i believe.
I would imagine it is the same, but could be wrong.
I think our main target with the money is 1. Gore extension, and 2. a vet CB, maybe Samuel if price is right, lol. Sorry i love that show, had to laugh.

Now Also, we have at this moment, 89 players signed for 2011.
Im not sure of how injured players work, if Bogan, Byham and Holcolmb will be on IR yet, thus freeing up 3 spots on the roster.
So we could have 4 spots open, maybe 5 if Mays is dealt soon.
I imagine the key positions would be Vet QB, Vet CB and honestly maybe a WR depended on how Zeigler and Crabtree are doing injury wise.

if we can be decent this year and make the play offs 50 mil would be nice to play with to bring those couple of guys to make the big run. thanks ab

niners indeed have 89 players on roster, but 2 have been placed on IR according 49ers.com transaction list.
7th round CB Curtis Holcolmb and UDFA WR Dontavia Bogan are both on season ending IR.
I am sure Byham will be their too soon.
So as it stands, we have 89 players on roster overall, 85 on active roster, 2 on Active/PUP list and 2 on Season ending IR
another thing I overlooked is veteran discount for players with a 685K, 810K and 910K 1yr minimum deals. They actually only count 525K against the cap, but are still paid the amount, just the difference is paid by the league.
From what i am seeing.
Costanzo should be on their, he has a 700K Base, I suspect that the 685K base minimum is actually to be 700K. So he counts 525K this yr.
Then Wragge and Madieu Williams are 810K, even though Williams has a 1M Salary, I will assume he counts 525K with the added roster bonuses as they arent guaranteed.
Thats an extra 745K in cap space.
So, I had us at about 12.612M, now we stand at 13.357M in cap room.
Again, NOTE, Only top 51 players on roster, meaning salary wise(Highest) count against the cap during off-season, along with whatever dead money is on payroll.
During season, all 53 men on roster count, all 8 PS members count, as well as dead money and IR'd and PUP'd players.
