Good point. But, if Asomugha is added, then our safeties suddenly don't look so bad. It's a pipe dream, but...

If Fangio is truly an upgrade at DC, many fans will be making many comments all year like, " wow, I never knew ______ was so good! "

Manusky's defense, probably at the command of Singletary, was a conservative, keep-every-receiver-in-front-of-you, pass rush only-in-your-lane kind of thing.

Yes. And it probably was at the command of Singletary. Manusky was vague, but said something at the end of the year that could be interpreted as making that bolded part very much truth.

It was the same under Nolan as well. I think that's how Mansuky runs his defense.

Or could be that we had the misfortune of two straight defensive minded tyrants.

I just think Mansuky is conservative. We see that Nolan wasn't conservative in Denver or Miami. Him and Nolan might have had some power struggles on how to run the defense at times. And I think Singletary was clueless and just let Manusky run the defense how Manusky wanted it ran. Probably a mixture of all but when you the DC and your scheme is consistently vanilla that's on you.
