2011 Safety Depth???

Dashon Goldson wants a major raise, but if the Niners let him walk, can they fill the position inhouse or do they need to sign a vet FA? The Niners current safety depth chart shows: Smith, Reggie Mays, Taylor Maragos, Chris Jones, Colin Taylor, Curtis Rotoworld is currently showing the depth chart to look like: FS 1. Reggie Smith 2. Chris Maragos 3. C.J. Spillman SS 1. Taylor Mays 2. Curtis Taylor 3. Colin Jones In addition the Niners could consider moving rookie Culliver, Chris or even Clements over to safety. With needs along the Oline, Dline, CB, and several others, I don't see how the Niners can drop a big chunk of their $$$ on Goldson. [ Edited by Butter on Jul 27, 2011 at 13:31:39 ]

I think they should have looked at Mikell from the Eagles, but the Rams scooped him up.

I agree. I'd much rather see them put their $$$ into a premier CB. Mays is a 2nd round pick and an all world athlete. Lets see what that kid can do at SS.

Also, I'm a little hestitant to expect Culliver to be an impact CB, but I like the idea of him challenging for a FS spot in the future.

Goldson sucks monkey balls it would be a waste to give him 4-5 mil, just give Smith and Mays a shot and give the money not spent on Goldson to Aso and cut Clements!

I'm excited to see what Ed Donatell can do.

I don't see how Goldson is much of an upgrade over Smith at FS, to be frank. I don't think he'd be worth the money, especially seeing what the Chargers paid Eric Weddle.

Goldson's another guy I'd rather see walk than get more than 4 mil per year.

We could use the money we would have given him for better causes.

man i hate goldson, but that is NO DEPTH at all. Can't be sold on Smith or Mays, and the backups are even worse
